Generating an "Earth" map with only one S/N Pole, no "repeating" biomes

Hi Y'all. Pretty new player to the game with some world generation questions.

I'm trying to avoid the repeating biomes aspect of VS, so I have an earthlike map with actual poles at either end of the north/south borders, instead of it getting cold, then hot again towards the end. Is this possible at all (with or without mods), if the game is fed the correct map generation settings?

I really want to do a start where I travel on foot and mount from the very north pole to the south pole, taking from each environment I pass, surviving with whatever I can scavenge and refine using small, temporary homesteads.

Something ala this.

Going to reply so you at least get a response from a 'gentle bump'.. ;)

In short I think that would be to do with worldgen and I don't know if it is possible. I am unsure if it's the latitude that defines the area or the worldgen that created it. Is a vanilla generated world just a "physical land template" which then calculates how close it is to the equator/pole and work out what 'biome' it is, or, does the worldgen bake in the 'biome' at the time of creation?

You might want to head over the modding section of the forum, and read up any of the worldgen mods, as I can't see how it is possible in vanllia.

You'll notice I've used quotes around the word 'biome', as it has a different connotation to that of the "other block game", check in the spoiler below to see what I mean..

So sorry I don't have a clear answer for you. My gut feeling is that it probably is possible, but have no way of confirming that.

At least I hope to have moved the thread on a little, maybe hook in someone that actually does know stuff! :P

I see I see. I wasn't sure how much this could be configured, but assumed some combination of map size and pole distance from the equator could force it. I'll ask over in the Modding subforum if no one can help here. Thanks for the help 😄

Hi there, i think the best approach would be to set the the Polar-equator distance to as close as half of your wold length as possible.
I'll leave a picture of the world settings that could work, this needs to be tested though(I currently play in a world with this settings but haven't traveled far).
The idea is that if the equator is always centered on the map this should give you two poles, one far north and one far south.
