AnotherZimmer Posted October 16, 2025 Report Posted October 16, 2025 Disclaimer: First internet forum post English is not my first language There's been changes in one of the possible commands that I used (mostly fixes: Patch Notes) VS Launcher Is not affiliated with Vintage Story Devs This was done on version 1.21.4 Issue: While playing on 1.21.4 in a world created on 1.21.1, When I arrived into Nadiya there were texture errors on the minimap showing only the dirt and not the village buildings, besides that there were only 4 minor NPCs on the village locking myself out of the main story. This was probably caused by something related to the +150 mods that I had installed, some being outdated(The reason I decided to not post an issue on GitHub). How I fixed it: First thing I did was to eliminate the outdated mods (any that could interfere in world generation), not many tips on this, it was trial and error while watching the logs for mod related errors After the purge I created a new world with the exact same configs and checked up on the village location, structures and NPCs. In my case, it was completely fine first try. Good luck. /tpstoryloc village MAKE A BACKUP. I did a full installation backup on VS Launcher, a manual backup of the Saves folder and an in game backup through /db backup <backupName> the conclusion I reached was that the world generation was fine now (even with the surviving 150 mods) so I needed a way to recreate the village and I found two command that can do that: /wgen regen <chunk radious> and /db prune <days> drop confirm as I did not understand the /wgen at the time, so I decided to use "/db prune". I do not recommend it because this command will delete every chunk that had not been interacted with in an amount of days (maybe useful if you explored a lot and the world is bloated) and you need some other precautions while "/wgen regen 3" will regenerate everything in 3 chunks radius around the player /db: As I mentioned, I used "/db prune" with the "drop" suffix will delete every chunk that haven't had a block placed or broken beyond the threshold(including land claimed chunks). Basically run around placing and breaking blocks around everything that you want to keep for some in game days before running the command. I did that for 7 in game days and used "/db prune 6 drop confirm" this deleted every other chunk and everything in those chunks. /wgen: I discovered this command later, and it seems more practical. For the village, the 3 chunk radius should be enough("/wgen regen 3"). It will delete everything and recreate it fresh Also, I do recommend reading the Command Handbook Server and Command Handbook Client for more information Have a great day 1
