HumanDude Posted November 16, 2025 Report Posted November 16, 2025 Me and a friend were playing on the server today and my PC had suddenly ran out of disk space. The server closed and prompted this so I went to clear up some space else where any started the server up. For some reason the server just started up in my single player world. It even appears the server config was entirely replaced as well. I didn't do anything to change the config between this time it just decided to overwrite my server. So now I'm unsure what to do because I want the original server config and I don't know if everything is broken or not. Is my world just gone?
Professor Dragon Posted November 17, 2025 Report Posted November 17, 2025 Hello @HumanDude,  That's rough. If you search your disk for *.vcdbs files, do you find your Save? The save is the most important bit. You should be able to replicate the server config settings well enough to at least load the world, and tune those settings later if needed. Yes I did find it. My server config was just the default so I simply deleted everything that wasn't the server. The odd thing is when I moved this world off the official servers to my system (because it was laggy) I had to change what world was selected in the server config. Later is when I made a creative world to test things and for some reason a day later when I had the server restarted it replaced it. I can only assume maybe I had made a server with the singleplayer world through in game which replaced at least the server config? Regardless I can for sure say I am scared to make any more worlds lol. Everything seems fine with the server and hopefully I can find out how to avoid this in the future. I probably would of quit for a while because we had made so much progress. 1
Professor Dragon Posted November 17, 2025 Report Posted November 17, 2025 Sounds like you've recovered the situation. Yay A lesson for all of us to take backups. I periodically back up my main world - not nearly often enough though. I hadn't given a thought to the files outside of the main save though, such as configurations and mods. It would be wise to do that. Professor Dragon.
