Brambyll Posted January 19 Report Posted January 19 (edited) Vintage Story Successions An Early Industrial Themed RP Server The machine of progress cares not who gets in the way; your lives are spare parts in a greater mechanism. Hi there! We’re a group of experienced roleplayers making an experience for people like us! Our main focuses are immersion, player freedom/expression, and collaborative storytelling. Our Plan We want to encourage in-character priority gameplay in an odd and mystical but still grounded and low-fantasy vibe befitting Vintage Story. We want to emphasize players’ character development, intriguing politics, cultures, as well as fair and thrilling conflicts with that beloved approach of 'playing to lose' or simply embracing failure to make for a good tale. As a story-based server, we’ll be running a longer-than-usual world, allowing characters and nations thrive, impact the story, and leave their mark on a persistent and evolving setting. Speaking of setting! Here’s a short glimpse at our teaser: In La Terre Galante, magic once chose the rulers of the land, until an arcane cataclysm obliterated the capital, along with the royal line. Now industry reigns supreme, refining apathy with steam, clockwork, alchemy, and brutal efficiency. Magic is now outlawed or heavily regulated, with some nations quietly exploiting it behind closed doors. From the smog-choked new capital, Harrowton, to grim and fiercely militarized Kethen Valle, and the shining veneer atop the foul secrets of Port Lycina, progress marches on, fuelled by sweat and blood. You arrive on untouched soil. Each of you has your own reason for being here; it could be a royal decree, promises of riches, or running from your past. Your book starts here. How will it end, I wonder? Intriguing, eh? You probably want to know how that all works, I’m sure. Well: How It’s Going To Work We’re working on an idea of spicing things up by using outside influences in the form of large off-map city-states and minor powers to enrich the roleplay experience while ensuring that their impact does not overshadow the players’ contributions, facilitating rather than dictating the story. This is done for several reasons: To give cohesion and a grander scale to the setting Provide a basis for less experienced roleplayers and factions Keep things fresh if staleness creeps in It acts as a potential resource sink, lengthening the end-game (along with other end-game mods we’ve added) What To Expect & What We Want You don’t have to have had prior RP experience (if you do, awesome), but keep in mind, we want serious RP in-game at all times where possible (VC and text (proximity)), using the correct channels for IC/OOC and being mature when handling the differences and conflicts in character and out of character. (IC conflict ≠ OOC conflict) We’re going to be curating a carefully moderated roleplay environment, focusing on quality rather than quantity. Our player faction/nation system is going to be applications, so you can be assured that they will be of high quality and run by experienced players! If you’re looking for a real role-playing server where you can grow your character over many months, expand your dwelling from a hut to a legendary fortress, and make your mark in history, we might be what you’re looking for. Beta Test A beta test looking at mod compatibility and stability is currently ongoing from the 18th of January to the 25th of January and is open to all! Full launch of the server's first season is TBD. Any more details you may desire can be found here at our Discord server!: https://discord.gg/JsrpZSJYNt Edited January 19 by Brambyll 1 1
Brambyll Posted January 19 Author Report Posted January 19 Just put up a fresh one, let me know if that works
Zeusplane Posted January 20 Report Posted January 20 This looks promising. Pretty much goes over most things that I had an issue with over the years with several roleplay servers. Endgame is always something that needs to be planned ahead of time- and the fact that you guys have thought of that is great. On top of that; understanding that there does need to be something in the background facilitating the experience (which doesn't mean dictating as you've said, it simply means adding something to keep things going and players engaged) is amazing. I'll be joining the discord for sure and looking forward to what takes place! 1
Brambyll Posted January 20 Author Report Posted January 20 I would be lying if I said I didn't see your post and agreed with/got inspired by a lot of it! We were coming to many of the same conclusions, so it was validating to see someone outside our bubble with similar concerns. Glad to have you on board! 1
