dragonkin Posted February 6 Report Posted February 6 There are quite a few nice mods that add new rock layers and such to the game, but they all mostly add useful rocks. I don't want useful, I want pretty! I'm a mineral collector IRL and want so badly to be able to stumble upon my fav decorative stones like howlite, labradorite, larimar, etc out in VS. Imagine how cool it would be for crafting decor blocks! Labradorite accent tiles... Is anyone out there working on a mod like this? With displayable mineral specimens and decorative uses? Ideally I'd rather commission this and pay for someone's work, but I currently don't have any expendable dough so I wanna know if maybe there's already a mod like this in the works by someone. The WIP forum seems all but dead so checking it wasn't of much use. 1
Tj Pepler - Critcher Posted February 6 Report Posted February 6 I've seen this one around https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/29767 Otherwise this could be a chance for you to try your hand at modding. I'm serious, this kind of mod doesn't require any real programming, just .json files and models and textures and stuff. The reason I suggest it mostly is that if you are experienced in your field then who better to produce the mod you know better than anyone what should be in it. You can look into the mod I just linked you even, unzip it and look at the folders inside, they will for sure just be like textures, shapes if they make their own models, but very straightforward and the best part is, the community will have your back if you have any questions! I assure you if you spend a few hours modelling and texturing your howlite and then you actually get to place it in a glass display case in your house in game you will be having a good time (I'm allowed to pressure you to become a modder cause you came to the modding forums, LMAO )

Maybe I'll look into doin it myself in that case. I have some middling 3d experience, and with everything being voxel it can't be...too hard. So long as I can use something other than the dreaded beast that is Blender it might be possible! I'll sniff around and if I have any questions I'll be back. :3 And yes the geode mod is delightful! I had forgotten to add it last time I went on a modding spree, so thank you for the reminder lol. 1
BlackMoonHowling Posted February 6 Report Posted February 6 That would be an amazing mod! I love collecting minerals irl and what better than to be able to collect them in game too!
