Hi, new player and first post on the forum here, I thought I might provide some feedback, particularly on the animal husbandry.

The petting mechanic should make the animal peaceful for longer, maybe 30-60 ingame minutes, as currently the effect seems to stop a second after you stop petting, so I'm not sure what the purpose of it is. Make aggressive sheep or pigs neutral for a few seconds? Maybe just remove it completely.

Growing animals should either have a growth bonus when they're well fed or just not consume food at all (or even, consume much less/smaller portions). For example, chicks will absolutely tear through the food you've put in your small troughs with nothing to show for it, and the only thing it incentives people to do is separate out the chicks from the adult chickens and stave them until they grow up (which I myself will begin doing once they're gen 5).

Animals should stop running away at gen 5. Gen 10 seems way too extreme, especially when most of the important changes happen from gen 1-5 - rope animals from gen 2, milked without issue and cleaved from gen 3, gen 5, baby animals can be picked up with reed chests and then nothing up til, gen 10 where only then do they stop comedically running away from you completely. Stuff like sleeping animals not waking when you approach can stay at gen 10, though, that's the cool icing on the cake once you're a good 50+ hours into caring for your animals.

Also, if the animals instead gradually get comfortable with a player sitting, crouching, standing, standing and walking to standing and running around, that'd be much more interesting. A player is much more likely to notice a difference like that (as you'll slowly change how you interact with your animals to not scare them) rather than the current implementation - the detection radius or whatever slowly being reduced until it hits zero at gen 10, which a player will not notice nor care about until that generation.

Welcome to the forums,

This is a really good, balanced contribution. I particularly like:

I think this would really help players feel like they were making progress. Perhaps at gen 5 animals would have a 100% chance to run away, dropping by 20% each subsequent generation until it it 0% at gen. 10? That would go alongside Lasercar's above suggestion.

It would be great if fed baby animals grew up either faster, or bulkier and healthier.

I'd love it if petting an animal ticked up a secret stat for that animal which could also make that individual animal tamer. It'd have to be very gradual though, so that it wouldn't undermine actual domestication.
