Taidoa Posted February 28 Report Posted February 28 Hi hi! I tried searching the forums and internet for this question in general and I wasn't able to uncover anything, but my apologies if this has been mentioned somewhere. I am relatively new to VS with only about 500 hours in game and I play on Vanilla Survival. I'm going to use the spoiler tag since my question briefly references some lore things in game. Spoiler I came across a couple of small underground ruins that were basically the same type and they each had "Fancy Aged Carved Acacia Logs", both the bottom and middle sections. When I did the Resonance Archives and made it to the Library after immobilizing the Eidolon, I saw that there were top pieces there (but obviously you can't loot any of that). I have yet to find a harvestable 'Top' piece. Do the top pieces exist somewhere in any of the ruins in survival mode? I only ask because I have had my dinky stable mostly built for a while now, but I've been waiting to find a couple of the dang top sections so I can work on finishing the project. Just wondering if it is a fruitless endeavor or if they actually exist out in the wild. Non-Spoiler/tldr; version: Do "Fancy Aged Carved Acacia Log (top)" pieces spawn as lootable items in the wild in Survival mode? Or am I destined to only use the bottom/middle sections? (I really do not want to spawn anything in using commands and whatnot - it's just my preference.) Thanks, cheers!

Only middle and bottom are obtainable in survival.
Taidoa Posted February 28 Author Report Posted February 28 (edited) Weeeeeeep T_T Thank you! I have no idea how to check block code though I'm sure I could have figured that out. I guess I'll just have to rework what I was planning on doing with the front. Ho-hum. (Also in my defense of the 'new' & '500 hours', I'm just going off of what my play time shows across my two games, but honestly I spend most of my time standing in one spot and staring at* a build project to figure out how I want something to look - I haven't even found iron yet outside of what I looted from the archives lol I am essentially still a total noob) Edited February 28 by Taidoa typo! 1
ifoz Posted March 1 Report Posted March 1 You can actually rotate the carved logs with a wrench to cycle through all their variants last I checked. This seems to be a bug, but it does allow you to get the top carved log segment, as well as debarked aged acacia logs. That bug aside there isn't another way to get them in survival, yeah. 1

I wasn't even aware of this. It doesn't seem to be caused by a clear mistake or bug, but it's inconsistent with other wrench-orientable blocks which can only have their actual orientation changed this way, so I kinda don't know what to think about it.

You came in clutch! I don't know why I didn't think to try using the wrench on it - it even changes the name of it to (top). I just kind of assumed it would rotate it onto its side or something. Thank you so much for this!! Now I just need to find a couple more! :D!!!
