Veridicus Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 My girlfriend and I have been playing for a while now, and an issue we've noticed is that sometimes the IP address will be for the internet router instead of the ethernet cable. The internet address causes all sorts of lag and in just downright unenjoyable. We have tried disabling internet before launching and after launching the game, but it will still sometimes pick up the internet IP, despite ipconfig saying there is only the local computer address and no internet address. I've tried modifying the server.config file as well, but it has no effect on LAN it appears. Anyone have any idea how to force the game to use the ethernet cable instead of the router? Thank you in advance.
Jacsmac Posted April 2 Report Posted April 2 If you're hosting a game over the same local network, you can, from the multiplayer menu, join the world using the local IP address of the computer hosting the world even though the WiFi address is shown in the pause menu. It's how I've been playing with my friends. (It is important to set a static IP address on the host computer so you can join using the same IP every time.) Since an internet connection is required for account authorization, you will still need to have a connection to start playing; after all players have joined Wi-Fi/internet should no longer be a problem. 1
Jacsmac Posted April 2 Report Posted April 2 Sorry if it's too late to have this question answered! I found this post while trying to determine if there is already an Ethernet local play guide and noticed nobody bothered to answer it yet.
