Krähenwolf Posted March 21 Report Posted March 21 As the title says: Would it be an option to implement leather or hide sails for the sailboat? They were used especially in the north. I was thinking about 8 huge scraped hides per sailboat, or 2x8 large scraped hides, or 4x8 medium hides, to make it somewhat alike the linen cost; into the 3x3 grid with a knife at the bottom? This would also give larger scraped hides an "in-between" use. What do you think?
kiuru Posted March 23 Report Posted March 23 As a counterpoint it'd be easy to say this was not historically the case; no leather has the same properties as linen sails. I would like to see leather kayaks/ birch bark canoes, though. Historically they were used to get very fast very far and up very small and shallow streams.
