Ladder Boy Posted 23 hours ago Report Posted 23 hours ago Problem: Been playing with my buddies, and I keep crashing on and off. Seven times in 3hrs from "Client Thread Crash" (sometimes on join, sometimes 20+min in) and twice with an actual crash report. Additionally, it sometimes gets stuck on "Connecting to Multiplayer Server" but doesn't connect unless he reboots the whole world, although my other friend has no issue. Attempted Fix: I have tried reinstalling the 1.22.1 update (it happened a few times during the 1.22.0 as well), and I had him run the world in "repair mode" in case that was it. Neither of us are running mods, we wanted to make it through vanilla winter before we got there, but first I need the game to run. Please help! Here is the Crash Report: Game Version: v1.22.1 (Stable) 5/2/2026 12:47:00 AM: Critical error occurred Loaded Mods: game@1.22.1, creative@1.22.1, survival@1.22.1 System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at Vintagestory.Client.NoObf.ClientSystemStartup.HandleServerIdent(Packet_Server packet) in VintagestoryLib\Client\Systems\Startup.cs:line 193 at Vintagestory.Client.NoObf.ClientMain.ExecuteMainThreadTasks(Single deltaTime) in VintagestoryLib\Client\ClientMain.cs:line 817 at Vintagestory.Client.NoObf.ClientMain.MainGameLoop(Single deltaTime) in VintagestoryLib\Client\ClientMain.cs:line 783 at Vintagestory.Client.GuiScreenRunningGame.RenderToPrimary(Single dt) in VintagestoryLib\Client\MainMenu\Screens\GuiScreenRunningGame.cs:line 173 at Vintagestory.Client.ScreenManager.Render(Single dt) in VintagestoryLib\Client\ScreenManager.cs:line 742 at Vintagestory.Client.ScreenManager.OnNewFrame(Single dt) in VintagestoryLib\Client\ScreenManager.cs:line 686 at Vintagestory.Client.NoObf.ClientPlatformWindows.window_RenderFrame(FrameEventArgs e) in VintagestoryLib\Client\ClientPlatform\GameWindow.cs:line 112 at OpenTK.Windowing.Desktop.GameWindow.Run() at Vintagestory.Client.ClientProgram.Start(ClientProgramArgs args, String[] rawArgs) in VintagestoryLib\Client\ClientProgram.cs:line 354 at Vintagestory.Client.ClientProgram.<>c__DisplayClass10_0.<.ctor>b__1() in VintagestoryLib\Client\ClientProgram.cs:line 131 at Vintagestory.ClientNative.CrashReporter.Start(ThreadStart start) in VintagestoryLib\Client\ClientPlatform\ClientNative\CrashReporter.cs:line 95 Game Version: v1.22.1 (Stable) 5/2/2026 12:55:48 AM: Critical error occurred Loaded Mods: game@1.22.1, creative@1.22.1, survival@1.22.1 System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at Vintagestory.Client.NoObf.ClientSystemStartup.HandleServerIdent(Packet_Server packet) in VintagestoryLib\Client\Systems\Startup.cs:line 193 at Vintagestory.Client.NoObf.ProcessPacketTask.ProcessPacket(Packet_Server packet) in VintagestoryLib\Client\Systems\ProcessPacketTask.cs:line 18 at Vintagestory.Client.NoObf.ProcessPacketTask.Run() in VintagestoryLib\Client\Systems\ProcessPacketTask.cs:line 12 at Vintagestory.Client.NoObf.ClientMain.ExecuteMainThreadTasks(Single deltaTime) in VintagestoryLib\Client\ClientMain.cs:line 817 at Vintagestory.Client.NoObf.ClientMain.MainGameLoop(Single deltaTime) in VintagestoryLib\Client\ClientMain.cs:line 783 at Vintagestory.Client.GuiScreenRunningGame.RenderToPrimary(Single dt) in VintagestoryLib\Client\MainMenu\Screens\GuiScreenRunningGame.cs:line 173 at Vintagestory.Client.ScreenManager.Render(Single dt) in VintagestoryLib\Client\ScreenManager.cs:line 742 at Vintagestory.Client.ScreenManager.OnNewFrame(Single dt) in VintagestoryLib\Client\ScreenManager.cs:line 686 at Vintagestory.Client.NoObf.ClientPlatformWindows.window_RenderFrame(FrameEventArgs e) in VintagestoryLib\Client\ClientPlatform\GameWindow.cs:line 112 at OpenTK.Windowing.Desktop.GameWindow.Run() at Vintagestory.Client.ClientProgram.Start(ClientProgramArgs args, String[] rawArgs) in VintagestoryLib\Client\ClientProgram.cs:line 354 at Vintagestory.Client.ClientProgram.<>c__DisplayClass10_0.<.ctor>b__1() in VintagestoryLib\Client\ClientProgram.cs:line 131 at Vintagestory.ClientNative.CrashReporter.Start(ThreadStart start) in VintagestoryLib\Client\ClientPlatform\ClientNative\CrashReporter.cs:line 95
Foe Hammer Posted 21 hours ago Report Posted 21 hours ago (edited) I think the more appropriate thread is Vintarian Support, it will also be helpful to give your client log as it will show more detail on what is happening, though be sure to redact any sensitive info that may be included if it is like IP address and the like. Are you the only one having issues with the server, or are other players unaffected? Additionally, you may need to fresh install the game and or clean out the cache files in appdata. Ladder Boy Posted 7 hours ago Author Report Posted 7 hours ago Ok, I'll post it over there while I fully delete it as you suggest. Yeah, it's so far only happening to me. I dunno how to post the log without giving sensitive info, I'm a plug-and-play type of guy. Thank you.
