glad I'm not on 1.22 atm because this sounds absolutely miserable to deal with

I really hope they just go back to how it was before 1.22, it's fine that it wasn't perfectly realistic, it already guzzled coal like a steam ship boiler

this mainly feels like tyrion making a rushed patch to counteract a bug or feature he didnt quite like, its similar to when he made animals swim speed 200% cuz he didnt like seeing people push there hunts into the water for easier kills and how he halfed the drop rates of enemies that died in hotspring water since people started making killrooms with them\

it does feel like if it negatively affects the spirit of his games vision he will nerf the shit out of it even if hes to quick about it and screws up other things in the crossfire

Yeah that's about how I would put it. Current development feels very riddled with "Dev VS Player" decisions that do not make a bit of sense

I’ve done a fair amount of iron work in real life, I learned on 1890s era equipment, which is a bit more advanced than what the game is representing. Finishing anything in a single heat is not typical in my experience, but that’s only so relevant to what’s fun in a video game. About the only thing I normally did in one heat was making a single nail, and it’s only the last part, using the nail header, that you really have to be quick about.

New to the game, have not made it past bronze yet, gotta say this is the coolest representation of forging metal I’ve ever played. Of course it’s not totally accurate but I feel like it “captures the vibe”, which is as much reality as I want in my game anyway.

I do think the wooden tongs should last about 30 seconds instead of being good enough that I haven’t even considered sparing the metal to replace them yet. Would be hilarious if their durability drained super fast and then they turned into a torch and dropped whatever you were holding when it ran out.

I guess I’ll find out if I think working iron is frustrating once I get there.

I was a blacksmith apprentice for a year and my experience mirrors this post. Only change I would reccomend is making fuel in forge burn longer. The forges were lit and going for an entire day and were refuelled rarely. Airflow was used to regulate the consumption and heat.
