TheSentient0ne Posted May 8 Report Posted May 8 Hi everyone, just wanting to make sure I won't accidentally break anything... My friend and I have played on a dedicated server for quite a while. Now that the new update is out, we'd like to enjoy it with a fresh, new world. Would simply deleting the save file (and backing it up just in case) and replacing it with a new one be fine, or is there something else I should do alongside that?
zenomorphexian Posted May 8 Report Posted May 8 this should work perfectly fine, i would be careful about mods if you use them, make sure they are updated and compatible in this newer version
Solution Byrnorthil Posted May 9 Solution Report Posted May 9 You can find the default world save under VintagestoryData/Saves/default.vcdbs. You could simply delete this file and either let the server make a new one or import one from your own pc, but you don't have to do that either. If you go into the serverconfig.json file and edit the SaveFileLocation parameter, you can specify a new world name and the server will simply leave the old one there. If you're constrained by storage space you might want to delete the old file, but other than that it's totally fine to just leave your old save there in case you want to archive or revisit it later.
