WillowsTree Posted August 14 Report Posted August 14 I'm going to be hosting a Modded server soon with under 20 people and wanted to ask the community for opinions on server hosts. What are your experiences? Any especially stand-out good ones? Any horror stories to be kept far, far away from? What are the specs you'd recommend? The only other resource I can find is the wiki's community list which is a good jumping off point but really doesn't have enough info.
Neininch Posted August 14 Report Posted August 14 (edited) HostHavoc is cheap, but you get what you pay for. If I'm ever on a server and start seeing a lot of broken rock that leaves floating spinning stones in the air, I immediately check if it's hosted on host havoc - and it often is. GPortal if it's a non serious server, but I've had 4 IP changes in just a couple months so far and for trying to build a server with multiple active players, that's a horrible thing. I've had good luck with Bisect hosting. I wish I had paid for a year with them instead of gportal. Citadel was worth mentioning too. edit2: I should also mention, I did go with gportal because it handled 180 mods like a champ. to be fair when it is running, it does run rather well. I just wish they weren't so casual about moving the server around different hardware. Edited August 14 by Neininch editing gportal line to include "just a couple months" 1
Chaneques Posted September 1 Report Posted September 1 I am hosting servers on a 1GBPS up and down I can provide at present a non moded server as I am still in the process of writing scripts for it to automate mods...Its fairly simple service you can start stop restart server etc at the moment and you wont be charged at all..Im on discord get details from district1.net
