Zarathustra Posted August 26 Report Posted August 26 Hi, I visited a lot of gothic cathedrals, which gave me an Idea. A mod, that alters gravity for Stone Blocks, so that you need reinforcments or thick walls to build high stone walls, like in a gothic cathedral. Maybe like dirt gravity, only less strong, to account for the more stable nature of stone walls. I think that should be fairly easy to implement, the block checks first for a foundation (If there is rock underneath, or a stone that is considered stable). If there is no Rock supported by rock within lets say, 10 blocks underneath it looses one stability, if no within 20 it looses 2 stability etc.. Then it checks for adjacent support, so if there is at least one stone next to it, it gains one stability, so that a fully stable wall needs maybe one additional stone thickness for every 10, maybe 5 blocks of height. Maybe there could even be added a function on how many blocks are above it, so that if you put the weight of more than ten stone blocks on one single stone, it also collapses. And so that if no blocks are underneath, a block needs to have sideways support. Don't give too much about my numbers, this is just what I just came up with, if anyone wants to do a mod like this, I think it could add some challenge to large scale builds.
Brady_The Posted August 26 Report Posted August 26 Have you seen this mod? https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/44900 Structural integrity is a fairly complex topic, so CollapseStory is probably the closest you'll ever get to your idea.
