Steel General
I like seeing the sparks when I use picks, and I was nervous the first time I mined coal, for I knew that coal dust and sparks make explosions. Alas, I've come to believe no such explosions are in store. Well, they should be Mining a block of coal ought to cause a bit of a dust cloud, and if a spark from using a pick (and maybe open-flame light sources) hits such a cloud at the right concentration it ignites. To mine coal safely, use lanterns and lead picks, for lead does not spark. I couldn't promise lanterns are actually safe in a coal mine, but it's got to be better than an open flame. Lead wears out very quickly, so bring a stack of heads and a stack of sticks. 2
