Reysol Posted September 1, 2022 Report Posted September 1, 2022 A server I was hosting on G-Portal updated to 1.17 after a server restart. I wasn't ready for that and I want to revert it back to 1.16.5 since not all mods are 1.17 compatible yet. Anyone know how to revert it? I already sent in a ticket with G-Portal and they responded that they couldn't do anything. 1
Phoenicius Posted September 2, 2022 Report Posted September 2, 2022 Quote they responded that they couldn't do anything. Oh great. I also just sent a ticket. How on earth can they not do anything? All the need to is replace the current server.exe with the previous one. As clients, we don't have access to that for some reason. Please update this thread if you find a way.
Phoenicius Posted September 2, 2022 Report Posted September 2, 2022 Update: Naturally I had the same experience as OP. G-Portal cannot revert the server version for some reason, of which they will not disclose. I cancelled my services with them and am taking my business to BisectHosting. It's around the same price, and you can control every aspect of the server, such as the version that it runs. Best of luck.
Sara Bell Posted September 3, 2022 Report Posted September 3, 2022 I run my server through BisectHosting and have really had good service. I checked them out through the BBB. They keep backup's, which you have full access to and their customer service is top notch. 1
Dr Ryuu Posted August 28, 2025 Report Posted August 28, 2025 (edited) Sorry to bump an old thread, but this problem still persists... It's incredibly irritating especially since, despite toggling, the auto update feature never actually turns off. The support also either doesn't know how to deal with it or just ignores queries about it. I really don't recommend using Gportal between their outages, unsafe FTP usage, poor support, server-wrecking settings you can't disable (that are enacted after said outages out of your control), servers unable to startup despite 0 changes since last launch, etc etc... Will be moving to another provider. Edited August 28, 2025 by Dr Ryuu
