Querdurch

As the title says, I dug out a huge amount of peat (about 70-80 stacks, sometimes four blocks high) not far from my house and i thought "hm, if i dig this out a bit more i'd have a cool bulk storage area so i dug out an area of about 8-20ish two blocks further down from the peat hole. It was very nice to have and also didn't look half bad either, but my sanity startet to drop fast. I wouldn't really have cared if it didn't affect my house, but it did, I even lost sanity while sleeping. So I decided to completly fill up the hole but nothing changed. Is there a way to get chunks to "recalculate" or something???
