VintagePlus | New Server, looking for Players
Danny97 replied to MetallicFlames's topic in Multiplayer
You got any spots left? -
The seed itself is pretty normal aside from this and the fact 9/10 traders are a treasure hunter.
-
Completely blocked off,no way forward. PS: I just punched through with creative mode, the whole tunnel was like that but i did make it to the other side. Still sucks that i had to do it.
-
I'm doing the archives on a new 40h world WITH NO MODS and i can't progress because i need to get the big gear from the bell workshop on the first floor to get the generators to full power but the path is completely blocked off by andesite stone which cannot be broken because of the whole "higher power" thing they got going on down here. What am i meant to do now? Do i just change the gamemode to creative and punch through? It's going to ruin my immersion but if that's what it takes i'll do it.
-
Yeah i got a violation. Also i called a mod a reddior so that didn't really help my case. I regret nothing.

I was playing battlefield 6 for gods sake, can you give me a minute?! I'm not on this website 24/7,what just because i didn't respond to you in a single business day (4 hours lol) suddenly i'm hiding from something or whatever? Please. Yeah i did everything right,no i wasn't using any mods, yes it was a bug which caused the nubs to vanish and prevented me from removing the beams even when i destroyed everything around them to the point they just floated in the air,I had to restart my game a couple of times before it got fixed, yes i know how to remove them and based on the pictures i provided you could have guessed as much because there is NO WAY anyone can work with beams and have them be perfect 100% of the time so you best believe i had to remove some of them a couple of times. I already explained all of this in a comment that got deleted by a mod because i hurt someone's feelings by telling them to taste test a firearm.
-
I explained how i've used beams before and even provided pictures of my most recent work with the main issue being that i couldn't remove them the entended way but hey thank you for trying anyway i guess? Appreciate it.
-
The nub vanished in thin air until i restarted the game twice and took a chunk out of my house. I guess that's just one of those things we have to deal with from time to time, like when you break shelves with stuff on them and some of said stuff dissapears. Lost a couple pies that way.

I've been trying to pretty my base up a bit lately using support beams and i found they work perfectly fine 90% of 50% of the time and it's pissing me off. I used to have the same problems some time ago with the beams not being straight or outright not working but i read online that having the immersive first person mode enabled can cause issues so i turned it off and that was the end of that, but now that i decided to actually use the damn things again they refuse to listen. They work well enough for simple jobs like pic 1 but something happened where i couldn't break the beams once i placed them even when breaking the surface they were attached to and it's making me want to shave myself bald because there is a hole in my roof now. I tried axes,i tried breaking blocks,i even tried reseting the game, only thing left now is to set fire to the damn place and be done with it,BUT before i do that i would like to know if there is a way to fix it? Thanks in advance.

I'll give it a shot as soon as i find a place to squeeze it into my base but don't expect a work of art or anything like that, matter of fact i would like you to know that my creativity is so bad most of the things i build end up as "Cube" or "Big cube" and lastly "Big cube next to smaller cube". You know how as kids we used to draw the sun by making a half circle on the top left/right corner of the drawing? That's my level. I've been eating all of my food standing up like a savage up until now,it's time for a change.
-
OF COURSE! I forgot that's even an option!

Why can't i make a simple chair to sit on? I can make a table just fine but not a chair nooooo, that's too complicated! I can make steel, forge it into tools, raise a 3 story building from the ground up out of stone, grow a garden, tame wild animals and the elements but i can't hammer 4 sticks into a stump and sit on it without having a specific color of cloth i have to put on top of it? Why? I am so very tired.
-
That's the way she goes, everyone who went in blind their first time knows that feeling. One day you're wondering if the mushroom with the name death cap murderhobo is safe to eat and the next you have a base full of food,it's a learning experience, and not the one that makes you cry over your math school book while your dad watches. Honestly,50% of the enjoyment i get out of this game is just hoarding food and watching it sit in my cellar,it feels good to know you have so much of something that is so important, especially in the early game.

The RESONANCE ARCHIVE,pretty as it was,is probably one of the worst experiences i've had in VS,actually the only one, which is why it stands out so much to me when compared to the song and dance that is the rest of this game. Not being able to use any of the containers (aka put items back where you took them from so you can haha maybe idk come back and take them later) while simultaneously being showered with items is just bad game design. You can make the argument that i shouldn't be picking up every article of clothing i come across, and you'd be right, but the enemies drop jonas pieces which are important and there's like 10000 of them which can quickly fill up your inventory regadless of bag tier and this could have been easily avoided IF YOU JUST LET ME PUT SOME OF THE STUFF I PICKED UP BACK WHERE I TOOK THEM FROM! I understand why they made it so that you can't destroy any of the blocks inside but not even the rubble that gets in your way, makes some rooms really difficult to enter or outright bugs you into a wall if you so much as stand close to them longer than you should? WHY? Just let me get rid of the rocks on the ground at least! PS: No,i don't mean "let me mine a hole straight down to the boss room or around the library door so i can get in" I mean the small stones that get in your way every 2 steps. I was really enjoying myself, the atmosphere was amazing, the dread i felt when i saw the reservoir and realised i had to swim in it to progress was nothing short of pants sh1ttingly scary, that and i took my sweet time exploring every nook and cranny of every room in search of lore and shiny goods (which i couldn't pick up haha) until i made it to the boss just in time to get my day ruined. Now,I'll say something people are tired to death of hearing, but i stand by it and unlike some people with the reflexes of an old, paraplegic lady,i can actually dominate just about anything in this prancy lala magic land with nothing but 2 flint spears and the S key so you better believe me when i tell you the combat sucks. I'm sorry,it just does and i feel like i should be allowed to say it as i have enough time played. That combined with the subpar hit detection, which i have grown to tolerate over the past 300 hours, and the horrible AI of the boss made me not have a good time. I walked in that place with a full set of m.iron plate armor, shield and the sword with the funny name,10 spears and enough pies to stock a bakery for a month and i still almost died because the boss kept spamming ground slams which sent me flying, dealing fall damage every time my shins made contact with the ground. I understand it's supposed to do that if you get in it's face as a way to prevent players from just shield crouching infront of it and spam left click (which is in and by itself is a horrible design choise and i'll fight anyone who disagrees) but the damn thing kept doing it even when i was keeping my distance and using my spears, not to mention the glichy rocks that fall from the ceiling or whatever it was...it's all just a big mess pretending to have mechanics when in reality both me and the boss are time traveling with our hits either landing instantly or 15 game ticks later. It's a horrible, unfinished mess and maybe instead of getting 50 new blocks,12 new apple pie recipes and a couple of new shades of wallpaper in the next update the devs can focus on making it fun and not just an endurance match since it's technically a big part of the game's lore? I've never had issues with wolves and bears, even the ranged drifters everyone complains about are a cake walk, but that boss is just a cool idea with horrible execution.

Title says it all. Found the usual meteor depression in the ground and dug down a block to find the entire hole filled with suevite stone and no m.iron, like, not even a single block of ore. Wondered if it's normal or a bug? I have had perfect circle depressions ending up as just a holes in the ground before but never in my 300 hours have i seen meteor impact with nothing but suevite stone. I'm a bit salty.

Bit of a loaded request but when are we getting the combat reworked? Being the autism project VS is,what with it's detailed armor making system, you'd think the combat would be more than "left click, move back, left click, trow spear, move back, repeat." It's boring, janky and pointless in it's current state since you can cheese just about anything to death with flint spears,or 10. I'm not asking for Kingdom Come deliverance levels of fencing, just a bit of blood every now and again at least.
-
Yeah,I'm stealing that.

A beautiful example of my point. We just never get to use some stuff, not because we don't have it,but because we simply can't use it,and by the time we can,it's pointless. Don't worry about it,always nice to talk with people on here.

Looking for people for a medieval roleplaying server!
Danny97 replied to Forthh's topic in Multiplayer
I can easily shoot us into the iron age but i don't know how i feel about having a bunch of mods installed. Let me know if you settle for a vanilla server or if it will have mods at least tell me which ones. -
"Sure, you could lose your mind and try and collect the tinniest bits of m.iron from what's left on the surface of the crash sites, but like i said, even then you would still need and anvil of the same tier to make use of it." That was my main concern, yes.

With bronze i can understand as it's an alloy with multiple combinations so it's really up to the player's circumstances which one they can produce given their luck with finding the materials but at least they have the option to do so. I'll use myself as an example. I have well over 300 hours in Vintage Story and i have never, not once, been able to make black bronze in bulk,NOT because i was limited by my tools, but because i simply never found the damn stuff in large enough quantities to make anything worthwhile and it's counterparts were always much more common so "why waste the time" i thought to myself. I just feel like it's pointless to have something that rare and pain the butt to find only to be able to use it once you already have a much more abundant alternative for really not that much of an upgrade besides style (meteoric plate helmet,my beloved) See,if it could be mined with a bronze pick like regular iron then it would at least see some use outside of just being a collectors item once you already have everything unlocked, but the way things are,i don't see it happening, for now. "it's almost like in order to build a Dyson Sphere,we need the energy that only a Dyson Sphere can produce..." - Kurzgesagt,I think.

A couple months ago i asked the community to teach me how to prospect as finding iron was impossible for me without someone explaining it like i was a child but have since then improved with their help and even reached steel which only led to more questions. What i wanted to talk about was meteoric iron and it's uses besides fashion. I understand it's slightly better than iron and slightly worse than steel but what i fail to understand is why you need an iron pickaxe to even mine the stuff considering meteoric iron was maybe one of the earliest forms of iron humanity could get their hands on and that in order to even get the stuff you would need materials that you already have tons of with iron veins being massive and all that,so besides looks and a slight increase to stats i don't see why we couldn't have m.iron as an alternative to regular iron and be able to mine it with bronze since it's already rarer? The leap from iron to steel was surprisingly fast and easy with refractory bricks and collecting their materials being the most difficult part of the process, the other being waiting for a week for the damn thing to finish, which leaves meteoric iron in a weird spot of "oh i found m.iron...but i don't need it now". Yes,you can smelt m.iron into bars just by firing it up and waiting for day as opposed to making blooms and then bars so i guess it's a bit more convinient, but you still need an iron anvil to even work the stuff so whatever "convenience" the smelting process offers is immediately taken away. Also coming from someone who made a full iron plate suit, the making of the bars was the least of my concerns. Sure, you could lose your mind and try and collect the tinniest bits of m.iron from what's left on the surface of the crash sites, but like i said, even then you would still need and anvil of the same tier to make use of it. What is the point!?
