SEASON 3 ANNOUNCEMENT Discord: Here Game Version: 1.22.2 Our next season takes us into a new area of the Oldwood with new survival challenges, custom server mods, and changes to how we handle lore and story beats. Expect to experience slower progression with a larger focus on trade, travel, and immersive lore activities. Season 3 Lore Introduction Of Fae and Frolicking The adventurers of Croakshire, intrepid, brave, and well stocked on sandwiches, have boldly struck out from their calm and cozy villages to see what’s out in the greater world! On their travels, they have found a mirthful, beautiful expanse of wilderness that stretches as far as the eyes can see: a wilderness filled with strange and curious plants; where the wind seems to sing and the birds sing back; where the grass is soft as silk and the water is sweet and rejuvenating; where the oldest trees could tell you of times when the stars were young, if you could learn to speak with them. Unfortunately, the place they’ve chosen to settle in is the Wild Garden, the untamed heart of the Fae Kingdom. Fae in all their forms roam free here, from mirthful to malicious, and the Arch Fae are ever vigilant, watching mortals from their courts. To survive in such a place as the Wild Garden, one must be cunning, observant, and able to quickly differentiate between playful and perilous, but also whimsical and able to bend and sway with the winds of change. Will you be one of the brave heroes of Croakshire, stepping out of the comfort of home into a new and perilous world? Or will you be one of the many traveling from this season’s setting of the Border Realms to seek new lands? Either way, we welcome you to the Wild Garden of the Fae Kingdoms, and the Season of Fae and Frolicking! ----- We will be running a playtest with a ‘finalized’ modlist for two weeks leading up to launch where we’re accepting feedback and suggestions for how we will shape the world in this season. - Final Playtest: Friday, June 5 2026, at 11:45PM EDT - Season 3 Start: Friday, June 19 2026, at 10:00AM EDT Join now and apply to join us for early access to the playtest!

Whispers of Oldwood | Season 2 Announcement We’re approaching the end of our first season, and our server story has brought us into the Reign of the Rust. Our players sleuthed and schemed their way through our server story in ways that have lasting impacts for both players, and the server going into our next season. With Season 2, we’re updating to Game Version 1.21.5, adding a bunch of new mods, and changing the process to join our community. You can expect to see new ways to customize your character with Racial Equality, Lupine, Skaven, Kobold, and others which will have main server story lore implications if played. In that same thread, we’ve added even more clothing mods so you can dress your best while surviving the rust! You will face some new mechanical challenges with the addition of Hydrate or Diedrate, Butchery and Toolsmith, which will be important as you learn the new ways to traverse the landscape with some Salty’s mods; Crawl & Dive and Catch Ledge. Season 2 Lore Introduction “Rejoice! I herald the coming storm. Mother and Father have seen you, and come to wash your worries clean. Rejoice, and celebrate. Soon, you shall suffer no longer.” -The Herald of Rust The Temporal Super Cell has passed, and as you leave the vaults once more you feel the world is different in an instant. The air breathes. The water speaks. The earth hums. Magic. Raw power flows from the temporal rifts, infusing the Oldwood with mystical energies. In the sky you see stones, animated by the elements, moving with the breeze. In the woods you see beasts, standing tall with the spark of intelligence in their eyes. In the fields you see patches of once-familiar flowers that now shine with a vibrance beyond what you remember. But in that same instant you know all is not well. In the lulls of the wind you feel a sickness that hangs in the air. In the far distance you see vast swathes of shadow that coat the earth, shadows without clouds to cast them. Strange altars with rusted icons and wicked briars dot the landscape, and stone fortresses braced with pitted iron. You see rifts that refuse to close, and terrible brambled bells that toll and wail and draw things from the other side. The Rust has come to claim the Oldwood, and leave Devastation in its wake. Strike the earth, hammer the board, Rett the flax and strip the cord, Till the soil, mine the stone, Tan the leather, sharpen bone. War is come for Oldwood’s Roots By braying beast and rusty boots Our new Season starts on December 12th. Join us, and survive through this new world filled with strange magics!

Yes! We’re working on our server mod right now and doing testing with the mod list to be ready for a 1.21 push with our late November/early December wipe for season 2. If we get mods together before that, we’ll poll for an early wipe, but we’re still waiting on a few critical ones to update before we get to that point.

An update that we're getting through our story beat! More lore updates to come! Remains of mysterious travelers have been seen leaving unexpected treasures around settlements.

Season 2 Launched on Dec 12 Mature Roleplay: 18+ Medium Text-Focused RP Game Version: 1.21.6 Discord: here Rules & Guidelines: here We are a text-focused, 18+, Medium-RP, heavily modded server that leans on high fantasy elements of steampunk and magic to shape our world and lore. We have a 6-month wipe schedule with carryover bunkers for players to get a head start into each new iteration, as well as a continual main story that evolves with each wipe. In Whispers of Oldwood, you’ll experience: Unique Landscapes - Snow-capped peaks, sprawling plateaus, vast oceans, and modded ruins are just some of the many unique features our custom world generation has to provide. Player-made Nations - Establish a homestead and grow into an international power, or become the thing in the woods and make things weird: there’s a place for everyone! A Modlist Made for Decorators - We all like decorating, so we packed our modlist with mods that expand the options for creating the home of your dreams. We have favorites like Wildcraft, Primitive Survival, Cartwright, Bricklayers, and more. Medium Fantasy/Low Magic - Want to be an elf? A dwarf? In WOO you can! The temporal storms have smashed together many realities, allowing for players to create a unique character to bring to the table. While we allow for people to pick their favorite DnD 5e species, we still adhere to the low magic lore of Vintage Story. Custom Cosmetic Changes - customize your character with Racial Equality, Lupine, Skaven, Kobold, and some custom to our server. In that same thread, we’ve added even more clothing mods so you can dress your best while surviving the rust! We do wipe (and here’s why it’s a good thing) Our six month wipe schedule allows us to be flexible with vanilla and modded vintage story changes. Each season of WOO also comes with its own overarching story that communities can choose to engage with in their own way, with repercussions that will carry over to future seasons to come. ~~Forget the rust, the mold is pure, forget the rust, the mold is pure~~

I reached out to where I have my other games hosted (GTX) and they're seeing if they can support Vintage Story, but if not, I'll check out your recommendation, thank you!

Thanks for linking this LJim, I'll mark this as the solution in the sense that it can't be done.

Thanks for sharing LJim, it doesn't look like I have any kind of web portal access for my server beyond what I can see in my game client (photos attached), so I'm not sure if I can even install mods here?

So I see the post about how to install mods for a windows server, but I'm not sure how to go about getting mods added to a VS hosted server. Is there a way to do it through the game client itself? Thanks!
