ah sorry, what i have is a line that runs from the router, into an outlet and out of a powerboard, and into my pc. there is no other modem.

just checked the router, not super knowledgeable on all this so correct me if i mess up and/or miss something but our pcs are in the LAN1 and LAN2 ports, the WAN port is empty. i'm pretty sure mine runs through the house internally while my dad is directly connected to the router (as in it sits next to his pc) i might be a little while before i can reply, i'm about to go to bed

my dad and i live in the same building and both use the exact same router. when he hosts a game on LAN, it uses his local address (192.168.1.2) and i am able to connect with no issues at all. when i host a game on LAN, it uses my public address as opposed to my local address (192.168.1.3) and he is unable to connect to my game. i've spent a good few hours on a world and building a home and i really don't want all of this effort to go to waste, and i also want to be able to play by myself while he might be busy, so simply giving him the world isn't really an option. we aren't able to open to internet because our ISP given router doesn't support port forwarding, restarting the router and my pc hasn't worked. does anyone potentially have a solution? what can we do? if it helps at all, my isp is Dodo and the router is a Huawei HG659
