Do your crash logs say anything useful? Found this thread that may help:

Try uninstalling duplicate files in the mod folder, and ensure the same version of the mods and the server are the same as your own. For whatever reason it causes dependencies errors on some servers even if they aren't running any mods. The only real " fix" I've found is joining the servers that don't cause the crash.
