About the spawning, from what i have seen, if you are in unstable areas, there is a good chance things will be able to spawn in low-lit areas. I made a home in some ruins and noticed too late that the area is unstable and now its basically guarranteed that i will have a guest in my repaired ruin if i was out and about during the day XD
