So I have to make a new account then/use a different email for the gift account? So there no way to keep using this one then?

So I sent a ticket to get a refund on the game since I don't see myself playing the game in the long run but a friend wants to gift me the game. Do I need to wait for the refund before I accept the gift? How do I claim the gift if I technically still own the game as of right now?
