How does that work with buildings or larger objects like chunks of land?

haven't tried exporting a whole chunk but for buildings you select the building with your magic wand and type /we mex [name] and it will export the model if i'm not mistaken

Is there any information available about how to do or use these on different worlds or transfer files from multiplayer servers to single player or reverse?

    Hello There !
Your schematic will be saved as a json file , and you simply have to drop it into your WorldEdit Folder and load it from the worldedit menu in the server.

I would personally like to see a feature where you, as the Host of a VS Server, can add Mods onto the Server.
As i personally see my PC getting to its limits with already like 4 Players on, its still managable.
But you do experience tiny lags here and there on the Server.

So to have an alternative where you could add Mods on and not experience your PC burning because you are running the game + the Server would be pretty nice.

My PC Specs if you are interested:
    CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x
    GPU: GTX 1080
    RAM: 16GB DDR4

Hello , i'm not sure to understand your message , because you already can host a server on another pc/machine with mods on it.

It's truly a good video but it doesn't accurately represent the state of the game now 2 years later.

We need a new one. Maybe a competition could be held for people to make the best trailer they can?

Some reward like a new forum title or something. Perhaps clips of the best 5 submissions could be put into one.
So the devs don't even have to divert any time into making a new trailer.
Just my thoughts. It's the first thing you see when you visit the site and the date in the video makes it seem there hasn't been any updates.

    Hello There !
A new Trailer will probably be uploaded very Soon ! Keep an eye on VS Youtube Channel 😉

So I have a very old computer. After a few comments on Reddit, I was encouraged to buy the game. It's only been like 20 mins but it feels like a good game. I had a problem with the "purple trees" so I checked the box in options......but now all my water is purple. It was white..now it's purple. Any ideas?

Hello , this is probably due to your old Graphics card , could you tell us more about what model/Brand it is ?

There should be a way to better locate ruins. Many of the ruins I find have to be found on spectator mode because they aren't attracted to any sort of cave system. you have to either cheat like I do or randomly dig tunnels for hours hoping to find something. So I was thinking what if we had a way to "dowse" for ruins and possibly even geodes (which, in my experience, are literally never attracted to a cave system)?

The Ruins that are not attached to any cave system are designed like this because there are plans to make the traders sell maps for these ruins. Right now it's not implemented yet .

Rare ? Not really. But the question is : how to locate them ? If you try the "Spectator mode" in a temporary world, just to see how the underground is organized, you'll see odd things : treasure chest enclosed in a single 1x1x1 cave, and those geodes, totally disconnected from the caves. So, unless you breach them randomly, either by tunneling to find some ore, or mining rock, there is no way to locate them. I don't really understand.

Another thing : I always thought that until the current version of the game, the only colored glass available to the player was the green one. Are you sure you really can produce other colors ?

For the 1x1 treasure chests , it's a feature that is not implemented yet ( Treasure Maps ) . for the Quartz , it's pure luck afaik , you cannot locate them with anything . The only thing is that they are in Quartz veins and that's it ! i'd say aim for thick quartz deep in the ground .

For the colors . You have Green and if you break those crystals ( from geodes ) you can create more colors .

I just downloaded Vintage Story version 1.14.8 and when I opened up my world, I was asked to let the game automatically backup and then remap my world for it to work properly with the new version (I used 1.13.4 before). I noticed that my tin bronze sword is not a sword anymore, as shown in the attached screenshot.

I have tried to save and leave the world, then load it again, several times. I am told yet again that my save game was created with an older version and should be backed up and remapped. But I am pretty sure I just did that...

A backup is created every time, so I think the problem is only the remapping.

As far as I remember, when I upgraded from 1.12.14 to 1.13.4, I was told after a while that the remapping was done. Nothing was visible broken at any time back then. Now I have been in the game for at least 15 minutes and the sword is still gone - and it still thinks it is an old world when loading up the world again.

I am not using any mods, by the way. Also, I am using the Linux version, if that matters. I did not run the install script but just unpacked the tar.gz into /opt/vintagestory like I did with the earlier versions.

To me, it looks like a bug, but nevertheless, I would like to know if I can do anything to fix the problem myself for the time being, like editing some files manually?

    Thanks in advance 🙂

Hello ! Could you try the following command :

    /fixmapping applyall

It should remap all the items and such . I'm not quite sure if you need to restart the world after the end of the remap tho .

I have a few pretty decent PCs just lying around that I am not using at all,

The first one I would start with hosting is this one:

    • CPU: Intel Six Core, i5-8600k @ 4.0Ghz
    • RAM: 16GB DDR4-2666
    • SSD: 1TB Samsung 860 Pro
    • GPU: Asus GTX 980 4GB
    • OS: Windows 10 Pro
    • Internet: 1000/1000mbps (Gigabit Optical Fiber)

How many players could I host at once, and what about the world/chunk size and so on? I don't know anything about hosting minecraft servers or game servers but I have hosted many torrent servers, virtual machines and so on. Would it even be worth trying to source more RAM, e.g. 32GB and so on?

I would host these I think as "free" servers with donation possible to keep them running, but most would only cost me a few dollars per month to run (I only pay 4.08c/kWh for power).

    Thanks for any information.

    Hello !
I'm hosting my servers not natively ( CentOS + Pterodactyl in Docker ) so you might use less ram than me but an approximate estimation of what to expect :
    - empty vanilla Server : ~400MB of ram needed .
    - additional Per Player Ram : ~300MB but i'd say ~400MB .
    - For more than 20 players , it's recommended to have a strong Single Core Performance and several cores available !
Your SSD is very good , Your Fiber too and you are running on Windows 10 which should be even Better !

You could go with 32GB but i guess it's better to see first how it goes and then add if needed .

    2. It takes like 40 seconds to quarry and chisel a 9x9 cuboid and process it into 2.5 stacks of stone bricks. This feels wrong taking a process that had a long process and moving it to the other side of the spectrum and making it too fast.

iirc you can change that in the config of the mod
