  1. No. Time progress isn't the problem. I spend most time of server time, much more than other players. I play every server day (so no months, no years).

    Yes, I put cheese packed in wax on a shelf in a cellar.

    I put more cheese on a shelf during ONE day. After day, two or more days: one cheese reports "x day left to ripen - %", the other one reports "xx % spoiled". Thats the problem.

    All my shelves in a cellar are suitable for ripen.

  2. We are about 5-6 players. The most active player has reached coordinate 35000 by jumping through series of 6 translocators and he explored most of reached places. So the size of VS DB is quite logical.

    We do some investigation now if it has something with our Linux distro and setting of SQLite. 

    It seems DB backup run ok. We should only restart server every morning after backup.

    And incremental backup of VS DB would be great. However I understand it's not easy to do something like that for VS developers.

  3. We run small server for few players. VS database file grows more and more. It's about 6 GB now. Having some backup of database is very important. However daily backup of 6 GB file is a nightmare. We use server command "/genbackup". Server is about 10 minutes totally CKU (during backup). And finally it is suspended. I should start server again every morning .

    Does anybody know how to make incremental backup ?

    Please Tyron, can you do something to overcome this problem? I know this is some architecture and it's complicated to change it. However daily backup of many GB with supsended server after backup is really problem.

    I don't understand why you resist so heavy. All keys can be remapped so whats the problem ???!!! You can remap it to your taste. Why to insist so heavy on something what changes nothing and it's only formal issue?
    VS has a lot of more or less important issues waiting for change/create and bringing something new. Why waste developers time on something totally formal ???!!!

    For example I'm a big fan of double click walk key = run (from Minecraft of course). But I'd never want VS developers to set it as a default behaviour and spoil all other players their experience because "I want it".

    respect is about accepting the choices other people make without feeling superior to them or the constant urge to get them to change their way.

     

    I definitely respect it. Let everybody use what he wants. No problem for me. I only would like VS team add an option for sprint - doubleclick walk key. I use it in MC for years.

    I'm actually a big fan of Shift sprint in Vintage but having more keybinding options is rarely a bad thing, and even when it is, it's only because of poor execution or mismanaged resources. I think the Vintage team would do a great job with it, but I wonder how easy it is to implement for them.

     Yes, definitely better even with need to hold shift to sprint! No need to be sarcastic!!! I respect your position. Do you respect my opinion ?

  7. I think the doubleclick walk key=sprint is the best option. You can easily precise control what to do. But add it as an option to turn it on is obvious (I don't want to spoil another players experience).

    Why you don't use gamepad? It's much better then keyboard and some of them are programmable. I use Nostromo n52te. It's much better than keyboard from ergonomic point of view.

    btw. who presses shift with their thumb? (okay mumbo jumbo does, but even he sees that it's unpractical) anyone who needs to type regularly and/or much knows to use the left pinkie for ctrl, shift and caps-lock.

    Haha...  First: shift-key doesn't mean it should be real shift key . "Shift" function could be mapped to another key. And second: not everybody uses standard keyboard for gaming. What about gamepad ??? Like Nostromo Speedpad or Razer or others ?

    But ok: what real keys do you use for sprint ???

  9. Add standard control of sprint by double click and hold walk key. Today solution with extra shift key for sprint is an ergonomic nightmare !!! It wastes another key. If you have walk+sprint for example W+S it wastes one key and causes handconvulsions when pressing two keys with one finger. If sprint-shift key is key pressed by different finger e.g. thumb, you waste another key and moreover you block your thumb key for another function (typically jump/crouch).

    PLEASE Tyron, add it please !!!!

  10. I'm afraid I don't understand your point - all key controls are freely bindable to any key including Shift, Control in Settings-Controls. So whats the problem ???

    If you rebound crouch key, you know it so you know every function needed crouch-click needs this new rebounded crouch click and no default one. Is it a problem to remember it ???

  11. I have found a lot of iron ore veins during my VS play. Most of them simply by exploring caves. Iron ores are more or less red color and is easily spottable. Simply continue playing, explore as much caves as you can and you should hit it sooner or later. Exploring caves has other benefits: ruins (with rare materials), and traslocators.

    Prospecting with propick is much harder imho. My first experience was nightmare. I was not able to find ore because I use bad procedures. Be very very precise when use propick and stick to right procedure (you can find here in forum detailed explanations how to propick ores step by step).

    Horizontal strip mine like in Minecraft doesn't work at all.
