Even ignoring the desire to set up a world such as the northern and southern extremes of the map are the 'poles,' I would like to have this feature so I could have more control over my spawning scenario. Perhaps I want to enter my IRL latitude and roleplay surviving just outside my door. Maybe I want to emulate Australia by straddling the border between tropical and subtropical. Or maybe I want to try my hand at survival in a latitude that matches Siberia or Northern Canada. Being able to enter the exact latitude that I'm interested in playing at is a straight improvement from trying to reverse engineer what the temperature categories are mapped to, as in the current system.
The current system also gives a temperature range, but... I don't know what this range is supposed to represent. It lists 'Temperate' as 6-14C, but temperate climates range from well into the negatives to past 30 (both celcius), so the provided temperature range tells the player nothing. Adding the latitude of these presets would be a simple improvement with zero code changes.
