  1. I just very recently got back to Vintage story again, finally could play it again. I love all the new stuff, I went in without looking up what was new with the game and had a blast when a crawly enemy just dropped trough my unfinished roof, and so much more fun when it spazzed out on the floor The option of not knowing anything again is so fun, and I am hooked all over to this incredible game. However I have a big dilemma with an object I found. To minimize spoilers (if there is anyone to whom this is a spoiler) I will first name the item, so players who know what it is can resume - Eidolon elucidatory vessel. So, when I killed the pinned robot at the Resonance archive it dropped several things, a lot of gears, some temporal gears that actually came stacked (multiple in a bunch I think 3 I might have used one) and this Eidolon elucidatory vessel. It looks like small brown box with knobs on it. Description of it says a treasure hunter merchant might be interested. So I took it there and he told me he will cut 50 gears off the price of the elk if I give it to him. My question is is this device only for this purpose, to make elk cost 50 gears instead of 100, or does it have any further role in the quests. Initially I did not read the description and just assumed it will be used in the next quest, so I went to the second place, MORE SPOILERS, found the note but then kept circling around going full crazy because I just didn't figure out that was it and that the strange box is not needed. Then I checked it out properly and saw the description and went back to the merchant. To my further joy I see that there is even more to the game and then the dilemma started. Is this just for the elk or will it be needed later in the story. I do have over 100 gears now after clearing the second place, but I am terrible at trading and don't want to make it so that I have to purchase it off him later or something as this would ruin the game for me. So for this one I have to ask.
  2. I was even fooled I saw something pure white in the distance just to find a swirling edge of a desert made of limestone. At least I got lime for a lifetime.
  3. I know. It literally means 30% chance it will spawn there. Potentially even if you get 99% of something there is a chance 1% there will be nothing. It is more complex than this of course and other parameters contribute to the final result, but I always had good luck even with something around 25%. But on this map, no luck at all, even in deserts. I have gone in some many desert caves and looked around the rock transition lines, I tried to spot any exposed halite on dunes - which is easy because I am usually in places with andesite, peridolite or even bauxite deserts, and nothing. Attaching an example (conglomerate bauxite)
  4. But on the up side I finally found a bear that did not want to eat my face. And the hunt continues.
  5. LadyWYT thank you! Beside mod I am still looking for that salt dome. Really want to try to find it on my own. Just now as I was in one of my salt hunts, rain pouring, just miserable visibility, the map gave me a rudest sign ever but it made me laugh so hard. It is like this map mocks me. (I hope the picture is not too problematic. If it is I will delete this post right away).
  6. LadyWYT I know about this method but I buy off the whole stock and then burn trough it fast. To pickle vegetables, plus every cheese batch of 2 wheels needs 10 salt to produce. And I I don't know what is with me and cheese but I just love making it XD Yes I started in the desert because my previous maps I would always start in clod climates. It is fun and all to have a long winter and have to prepare, and have wolves and bears constantly barge in (once I had 3 brown bears spawn at once inside my fences) but I got tired of it all. I wanted a hot climate with another set of challenges, but it is generally much more easy and chill. This map also had a huge hill at one point where it is so high up, rising from the desert, that the climate is completely different up there. I found this small white flowers that are usually found up north, weiss something etc. It is a strange map. Finally you are the life saver with the mod, I will look for it, it will be perfect! Thorfinn I am in the desert and I haven't managed to find a single exposed node, going in to caves, checking in dry lakes etc. I have been on on this for I don't even know how long. I have to turn off the propick layer on the map because I can't see anything from the dots Also I really like cheese. I don't know if my pheasant roots are showing but I just always liked farming, animal care and preparing food. With the realistic aspects of this game, I find it almost therapeutic to play this game. Being grindy and unforgiving makes this game just perfect.
  7. Hello, First finding salt was never an issue before. First I find a sandstone place, for some reasons forested areas were better than flat ones. I propick until I find some Halite and then try to find where the % is increasing, follow that line until I hit at least 25%. 25% are good odds for salt. Then I either dig down until the rock layer changes and then branch out looking for it, or I dig straight down from the surface holes with 4 to 6 block apart, go back up and repeat. Second yes salt is not necessary at all but this was supposed to be a relaxing world where I would focus on farming and food making and I need salt for the cheese. Lastly I just don't find this map to be normal at all. I finally today came across a place where halite was present, managed to follow it and reached place with 17%. Dug down where the rock layer changed checked again 21%. Started my branching hallways. And absolutely no luck, but the sandstone and slate would mix, and granite would shoot up 20 block than fall down 20 blocks. I got so frustrated that I got in to creative mode and started to dig around trying to see if there is any salt. And absolutely no luck with again mixing of different rock types in some abnormal patters. Like someone took 4 different rock types and swirled them all together. I closed all holes and I am very close to give up on this seed.
  8. Long story short, I wanted a nice relaxing world where I would focus mainly on farming, but I love the ruins, so only things I changes in settings was to have my inventory on death, and to spawn at a hot climate (got sick of those minus 20'C on my previous map). Got both most lucky and unlucky seed. Good news is the wide area around my spawn is so rich in all metals, it is insane. Never seen so many ultra high of iron, zinc, bismuth, tin, lead etc. The bad news is there is absolutely no salt. I propicked the place to the point my map looks like it has measles. The rock layers are all crazy, mainly granite, claystone, slate, chert, all in one another. Not to mention I found some other strange features, like an big open cave with huge amounts of exposed hematite or attaching these locust upon locust nests above ground, or this geologically active area... I have searched for salt so much that I am at the point I just take bronze propicks and food and travel for days. I've seen so many things and no luck with salt. To be honest last night it made me cry out of desperation. PS. I found salt domes in the past with no issues, but here, I only hit miniscule amount if I am lucky.
  9. Hello, In the repository there are books I can pick up - noticeable from others by green squares on their spines. Some of them say they have lore in them (something in lines story that has been passed from generations) but I can't read them. Same with one of the scrolls there. Is this normal or a bug. I am not talking about books that are too rotten, they look fine, they just don't do anything on right click. Thank you.
  10. Glider being able to provide long distance travel should be a natural progression of the game. After finishing the archive what is there left to do but to explore far and wide. I was hoping glider will enable faster travel so I can see other biomes and plants and animals in them, gather them etc. This would also ease the finding of resources. It would provide many more days of fun gameplay, and a good reason to do the archive in the first place. I was left very disappointed when after climbing a mountain up in the clouds I could traverse just one small plain that would have took less time to run across then to climb the mountain in the first place. I really hope some next update will improve the gliding distance, even if it gets connected to wind speed or something.
  11. Will goats ever stop running from the player in future generations? Like rabbits and chickens. What generation is it?
  12. Hello, I see bug section is archived but I discovered a bug that completely ruined my game and I had to go to creative mode to fix it. I am in the resonance archive and just got the pump head. I teleported back to the transmuter room and the pump head was gone. I went back and ran to the place where it was and it was not there nor it was anywhere. Disappeared from game. The only option for me was to go in to creative mode and get it.
  13. Thank you all! I don't mind lore being a very hard find I was just thinking I was doing something wrong to progress so slow. Now that I know the rate of progression on the lore is supposed to be slow, I am quite happy to follow that slow pace. I naively tried to go to south and see the desert, leading to me running for days until the climate actually did change, but on the way I saw some spectacular ruins, so I now know where to start. When you mentioned traders I remembered one wanting something to give me a location with great wealth. I should visit traders again to find that one. Again thank you so much!
  14. Hello, Sorry if this is the most stupidest question possible but how to find lore in this game? I managed to find 4 books so far by sifting bony soil, but we are talking here of sifting at least 150 blocks of it. I tried caves and killing monsters but when I do find a dungeon underground it contains some goodies but never books. From monsters best luck I had with any good loot is some jonas parts after killing those scorpion looking things with saws on their tails. So what is the best way to get books or any type of lore content? Thanks.
  15. Yes! I have found 3 translocators so far and all 3 were in a very unstable areas. Like clock just zooms back. I suppose it is not a coincidence. I know now large cave systems also give unstable patches, but I can't say 100% that iron ores also do it, or it is just a coincidence that it was exposed in these caves. I found both huge hematite and lignite accumulations and both were in a unstable patches. I also propicked a lot and I see high, and very high iron ores in places that are unstable. not for other things thou, like salt. I've spent so long looking for salt and finally find a dome that is is completely stable patch even thou it is underground.
  16. Hello, Sorry for not answering and thank you for the answers. I actually finally noticed the gear thing my self and I have built my home on a very unstable area. But luckily there was a pocket of stability nearby so I reallocated my whole home there. Turns out the instability was so bad because I had one of those things that teleports you under my home, along with a huge pocket of hematite. So it all gave me much things to do This game is just awesome and sucks me in for days. I don't mind the cloth any more either because I have built large farm and grew a ton of flax. But thank you so much! I have now entered the iron age and am focusing on making iron armor and it is time to hit the caves.
  17. Thank you so much!!! Would you mind answering another question if you know? The only thing really bothering me is how fact I go crazy if standing in one place, not to mention in a cave, Clock at the bottom of the screen starts zooming like crazy and I get poisoned and am suffering damage. Is there a command to reduce this time? It would mean a lot. Thank you!
  18. Thank you so much! But will this in any way hurt for example future updates or similar? I really don't want to mess up mu current playtrough in any way.
  19. Hello, As being a first time player I wanted to make tailored armor but did not noticed I need to have a specific skill for it. Only when I tried to make sweing kit I noticed it. Now I am stuck with a lot of cloth and a lot of wasted flax. I really need it back, so can cloth be turned back in to just linen squares? Thank you
