It's always a bit of a let-down when games that focus on survival just have the predators attack you on sight. It's unrealistic, perpetuates harmful steriotypes and honestly doesn't make for interesting gameplay.
I may be overlooking something important but so far there doesn't appear to be a particuarily effective way of dealing with them. Bears are at least somewhat easy to spot and avoid, but in anything but the most open steppe, wolves reliably spot me before I spot them. Fighting them isn't an option and nothing seems to scare them off. Running is just a good way of dying tired.
It's really put a damper on an otherwise rather interesting game.
