I am not sure if it is presently on the roadmap but I could see the devs adding it if the community requests it. Hopefully the NPCs will have more to do than minecraft.
In the mean time there is a travelling merchants mod that let's you build an inn for merchants to stay at but I am not sure if it's been updated to 1.14.10

I am about to go onto a 3 month sail and would like to refrain from buying three months subscription for the server hosted through the website as no one will be using it unless we are all together. As such I was curious that when our server time runs out, will the world still be there for when I purchase the server subscription again?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

Even if this does take a good amount of time I don't really mind. More or less want to document it just to tell others later on down the road. Let's me pull the ol' "BACK IN MY DAY!"
To add onto the above, it seems most spawns are limited. So that you'd probably be relying on the traders for silk seeds to farm rope in a greenhouse and so forth. Pretty much until you get enough rope to make the charcoal to make the green house and get the gears to buy enough seeds you're seemingly stuck to extremely slow progression.
So before I had asked if anyone else noticed that colder temperatures prevented cat tails from spawning. Can anyone verify it's the same with flint? I found the only way to get flint is to pan for it and that's not very efficient.
