Since the world isn't supposed to be Earth, but similar to it, I suggest more fantasy-like metals. Mithral, Adamantine, Blue Steel (or cold iron, in certain cases), and potentially metals that are impossible to work with for weapons and armor, so they can be used more like colored metal building blocks.
