  1. This would involve probably rewriting large parts of or the entire worldgen code, while the idea of "continents" has been passed around and is iirc planned (which would be great to add local resources and specialties which the player has to travel to find/gather), it is not something the team is going to add any time soon.
  2. It's probably because in a game where getting food is supposed to be hard, fishing would either be 1. So easy and effective for gameplay purposes it's overpowered or 2. So slow and tedious for realism purposes it's frustrating and nobody adopts it as a viable alternative to hunting. Fishing probably has to be balanced as an alternative to hunting which requires certain environmental criteria like climate, the size of the body of water, time of year and other factors (like water flow which could be added with rivers) which make it hard enough to do that it isn't laughably easy but also not so hard that it is unappealing for people to even attempt. Killing the fish which already exist is stupid easy and should probably not even be possible, specially when salmon spawn in tiny puddles and are slow as molasses, have you ever tried to swing a knife at a fish? It has been balanced by making full grown fish give pitiful saturation, which is also nonsensical.

  4. I can only say that if I was tyron this entire comment chain would've made me just quit right then and there. This is what gets communities called "toxic" and drives people away.

While I get the general distrust gamers have for game developers these days due to the sheer lack of communication and consumer wellbeing many have, it is truly depressing to me that some of the nicest, most hardworking devs out there like ConcernedApe (Stardew Valley) and Tyron here seem to be the ones who get the most vitriol from their communities.
  6. Dejank really is necessary at this point. While new content is nice, most people can get new content by just loading up on mods. There's many systems which could see some improvement atm. Prospecting, Combat, NPC interaction, Animal Husbandry, Agriculture and Tailoring are some of the worst offenders. Deer have had semi-broken animations since they got added (specially when swimming/attacking), animals in general love to go for a swim for no reason, and will happily follow the player into water or jump off cliffs to their death, mob AI is overall remarkably stupid. The rideable elk has extremely janky movement because it has to climb every single block with a half-a-second delay and the running noise gets interrupted every single time it leaves the ground even for single block descents. Mobs in general (including the elk) also get stuck trying to path in a diagonal line which goes along the edge of blocks, making them have to climb up the blocks then go down and up and down again (making them spin in circles sometimes), I know it's more realistic but entities should just climb blocks instantly or with minimal delay so they can path quicker instead of getting stupefied by anything other than flat terrain. As many people have said, polish until the game could be shipped as is and then add new stuff. New stuff should be added when the foundation it lies on is rock solid.
