  1. It depends on the number of days per month that you can configure for the server, see https://wiki.vintagestory.at/index.php?title=List_of_server_commands

    • Press t and enter /worldConfig daysPerMonth to see the configured number of days per month. For instance, if the number is 9, then the month ends after 9 days. So after January 9, the next day is February 1.
    • Press t and enter /wgen pos climate to see the current season of the chunk.

With these commands, you can check on which "dates" the season changes on your server.

is there a purpose at any point in the current version of the game to forge one, or is it even possible?

No, you find the steel anvil (and lots of other items) in creative mode only. It isn't available in survival mode.

If you check all available items in creative mode, you will quickly realize that this mode contains many more items that aren't available in non-creative modes at the moment (e.g., numerous ores, various herbs, and other items for forging).

Yet, we would like to avoid putting the game on Steam for the time being to for several reasons:

    • Steam takes a 30% cut of the profits, which we see as unreasonably high, and leaving us developers with not much after the 5% transaction costs, 20% VAT and ~25% income tax deductions.
    • Steam policy prevents refunds after 2 hours of game play. We would like to be able to refund for longer than that. If you don't like our game, even after 2 hours of game play, then we don't want your money.

That being said, it is still possible that the game will be on Steam some day.

  4. After 2.5 in-game years on our multiplayer server, we prospected the complete area around our current "village." We found multiple massive depots of Pentlandite. Actually, most ore in our area is Pentlandite.

However, at the moment, Pentlandite and Nickel are useless in the vanilla game. In the real life, nickel is used for stainless steel and alloy steel, which means in-game Nickel might be used to improve steel at some time.

Does a plan exist for Pentlandite or should we just leave it in the mountains?
