What evidence do you have? Millions of crashlogs with configlib hidden as the crash reason ? You cant see how it’s interacting if it’s intentionally hiding those interactions. We may know what it did but we cant see how it was interacting with random mod #50 from 5 months ago now can we? and I dunno about you, but the fact we found out because it hit the wrong target is evidence it was bad code by default. How much you wanna bet bro asked claude “Write me code that detects and crash cheater’s games” and it spit that out. Someone smarter would have looked at actual anticheat devs and looked for certain checks and player behaviors

Crashing, stability, and performance all go hand in hand. You should know that. We actually dont know what the issue was in some cases because ding ding ding obfuscated code there is one person claiming better performance minus the code and two claiming worse while the code was active. I think it’s beyond obvious Maltiez didnt give them the full story. Maltiez had every option to make it a seperate mod. Every option, every chance. However, that would require people to go out of their way to get it. He wanted to attack unsuspecting users. Not only is it malware by definition but he distributed it like malware too. literally who knows how many issues his code was actually causing. Some people on moddb are noting PERFORMANCE improvements, which is crazy, what was it just spamming the cpu for checks for his target? dude was sneaky and vindictive for a reason and deserves to be removed.

That was the point I was trying to make when I brought up “We dont even know if it worked correctly” I could have been hit by it too. I remember a weird CTD issue me and my friend were having trying to connect to the server. Ended up removing a few mods to find the culprit. what if it was just configlib? My job is to literally troubleshoot factory equipment. Dont obfuscate that stuff from me, we’ve cussed out engineers for less

Who knows if thats the case considering his initial response was to remove it then vindictively add it back in. Forgot to mention the question “Why not make it a separate mod” answers itself. Dude did it this way on purpose. Configlib is used by so many different mods, not just his overhauls. Why wouldnt you sneak your vindictive malware into your most popular mod?

Only confirmed and reported because it wasn't working, it was bugging out and causing issues with other mods. Confusion that would have been avoided if he made it a separate mod instead of trying to introduce it as actual malware. Even this was buggy. Still dont want the code on my computer. I play strictly singleplayer Live moderation and banning. Anticheat was developed to solve the problem of scale. There are not enough players to warrant this. Grow up and moderate your 15 player server. Multiple mods have thrown multiple tantrums over this. I know I’ll be seeking a refund if my ban for pointing out that mal is listed as a game dev now isnt reversed.

This is essentially just some grass allergic guy goin “WAHHHH I DONT LIKE CHEATERS IN MUH SINGLEPLAYER NONCOMPETITIVE GAME” and screwing everyone else over, then causing a massive blow up for the team he’s attached to all because he has an ego. Then the discord mods are continually sweeping for what he admitted was actual Malware.

Would like to note: We have no evidence of this “anticheat” working correctly either. vintage story has what, a max of 250k players? Less so playing online in community servers. He’s attacking a statistic that has a chance of being less than one whole person, while dragging the whole community along for a ride. These are all community lead servers, just ban cheaters and rollback their contributions if it was that bad. Theres not enough to warrant any form of anticheat measure. Just grow tf up and ban em

The discord is practically required to gain access to certain information for the game. Mod support, patches, etc, fast community support for issues, etc. As it stands multiple people have been banned and deprived from what has sadly become a somewhat critical component of the game. If I cant access the community forums on the discord to at least read through other’s troubleshooting I will be refunding the game. Standing by the bans means you standby maltiez.

just saw multiple posts on the reddit of people getting banned for discussing it in off-topic. So yeah. I guess some people are sneaking through. Probably depends on what they say bros sweeping for discord mods rn
