Hello, first time posting here. After playing the game for a few weeks both vanilla and modded, I've grown increasingly frustrated with the 3rd person camera, especially since I only bought the game after confirming that it had a 3rd person mode. Here's my suggestions about how to improve it:
First and foremost, put the "look at" camera (the second 3rd person mode) on its own hotkey, and/or allow us to disable it altogether. For something you only use once in a great while for screenshots or streaming, it shouldn't be bound to the same key that you switch between first and third person. And yes, I've tried the console commands to disable it, and they simply don't work in the current build:
.clientconfigcreate overheadLookAt bool false
and
.clientconfigcreate seraphLookAtCamera bool false (which I'm 90% certain is just a BS command google AI made up)
Second, and probably the reason I have to cycle between camera modes so often, there's a bug with 3rd person where, if you're in an enclosed space and/or there's blocks behind you, the camera clips INTO your character's head, completely blocking vision so all you can see is the reverse side of the face. It should (and as I understand, used to) switch to a first person view in those situations, but as of now it just clips and forces you to manually change views (and pushing the key an extra time to cycle past the extra useless camera mode).
Third, keep the crosshair visible while in third person mode. Because of the way hitboxes work (the weapon/tool doesn't actually have to make contact with the mob/block) it's difficult to accurately hit an enemy in third person. Yes, in vanilla, the crosshair is behind the character's head, making it useless, but with the very well done immersive third person mod (which should just be integrated into the game) you get an over-the-shoulder look which works amazing except for the aforementioned issues.
I'm fine having to switch to 1st person in dungeons and the like, where the camera would be switching to it all the time anyway and there's going to be lots of combat, but on the overworld, and when building, I find the game much more enjoyable in 3rd person mode. As it is now, it seems more like a tacked-on feature to fool those of us who like playing in that mode into buying the game, or for content creators to show their characters, but it fails as an actually playable mode. Giving it a little love and taking a few minutes to fix these issues would go a long way towards making it playable.
Thanks for your time, and for an otherwise amazing game.
