  1. @Sinda, coming back to Vintage Story a couple years later... I found that if I set the season to always summer at world creation then it makes the grass constantly bright green instead of yellow. Per Streetwind's comment above I also set Global Precipitation to Humid, but I haven't tested whether or not the Global Precipitation setting impacted the color.

  2. Thanks, Onsdag. This appears to be resolved.

    The things that I did:

    • Upgrade from 1.15.3 to 1.15.4 (This did not resolve the issue)
    • Drop the pan, log out.
    • Log in in repair mode & close back out. (Not sure that this had any effect, but was worth a try)
    • Log back in with no pan in my inventory, go to creative mode, give myself a new pan, and test again. (this worked)

    These things did not work:

    • Before resolving this, panning never returned a result.
    • If I log out of the game with an empty pan, when I log back in the pan is filled with what appears to be muddy gravel.
    • If I log out of the game with another type of sand or gravel in the pan, when I log out and back in then the pan is full with what appears to be muddy gravel.
    • The issue appears to be save-file specific, when I load other saved games this issue does not happen.
    • The issue persisted after dropping the original pan and creating a new pan.

  3. Starting several weeks ago, before my upgrade to 1.15, Vintage Story's game music stopped playing for me. Music plays at the save-file loading screen. When I go deep into a cave I hear the scary ambient music. But regular ol' music during gameplay won't play. Any ideas for troubleshooting?

    Troubleshooting steps I've taken:

    • I verified that I can hear other Vintage Story game sounds from my audio device.
    • I've tried disabling all mods except for Essentials (Code), Survival Mode (Code), and Creative Mode (Code)
    • I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Vintage Story.
    • I've restarted my computer.
    • I've tried changing audio devices & plugging/unplugging my audio devices. No change.

Data in case it is relevant:

    • I'm running version 1.15.2 on Windows 10.
    • My save file is approximately 3 GB.
    • My logs are zipped and attached in case that helps.
    • My audio settings are attached as a screenshot.

    Best,

    Ariven

  4. Hi, is there any way that I can set the year back on my local Vintage Story game? For some reason I really enjoy the world being in the 1300's and I accidentally set the time forward into the 1400s via a "/time add" command.

  5. Is anyone familiar with the game mechanic that creates the bright green grass (more saturated green grass) in the image below? Is block height a part of the formula, & anything else? I find this color particularly beautiful.

  6. An idea would be the ability to craft a temporal sphere that, when placed on a surface, would provide a 15-block radius of protection that would repel drifters.

    Potential recipe

    • 4 temporal gears, 3 obsidian rocks (not stones) (example attached)

    Features

    • If a drifter spawns in the protection radius then it would run and stay outside the radius.

    Benefits

    • This would create a mini-game around finding obsidian and increase the value of temporal gears.
    • The attractive psychological mechanic is "I have created a space where I am safe from powerful things that would otherwise attack me" which gives players a sense of safety, power, and control over their environment -- a common reason that us gamers turn to video games for immersive and creative interaction.
    • This would allow players to continue to experience a measure of creative game content during temporal storms. "Ack, another temporal storm! Time to craft tools..."

Being able to carry this item in an off-hand would be a bit over-powered, I believe, but being able to place it would be useful.

  7. I absolutely love structures built into the natural landscape. Gorgeous. I have a dream someday of being out exploring and finding auto-generated structures like this. Then searching the buildings, finding books and letters that tell the story of the people who lived there and reference other buildings or artifacts to search for.

  8. What do you think about creating a Bonfire item? It would be fun to be able to have a big fire outside my homestead.

    Possible implementation options

#1: If we create and light four firepits in a 2x2 horizontal grid, each firepit fueled with 16+ logs, then it automatically turns into a bonfire. See attached image as an example.

#2: Related to a charcoal pit, lighting a firepit on top of an above-ground 2x2 horizontal grid with four full stacks of firewood would transform into a bonfire.

    #3: Other ideas?
