Do keep in mind that messing with time can potentially have unintended consequences, so use at your own risk.
As is the point of the entire game's story (thus far)

Plans to update to the 1.21 family of versions?

She can attack at any time in the Devastation, though as @Maelstrom says the true fight is supposed to happen at the top of the Tower. If you're not near the Tower, or not yet at the top, she will just do the occasional divebomb. I will note though that there have been issues with this boss actually showing up to the arena, however, I think those have been fixed. If the boss got stuck on blocks though, I would screenshot the exact portion and go report it on the github bug tracker, as I doubt that's intended.
I'm posting the rest under spoilers:
The way the fight is supposed to go is that Erel will fully engage the player once they reach the top of the Tower. This boss does not need to be killed, just damaged enough for her to fly away. Once she has flown away, the Lens will be retrievable. From the sounds of it, you managed to damage her enough for her to fly away before you reached the Tower's apex, thanks to her getting stuck, so the actual fight shouldn't be necessary. Kinda sucks, but you should be able to retrieve the Lens and complete the quest. You could also try resetting the Devastation area via command(not entirely sure of the exact command to do so), and that might reset the fight so you can try to do it for reals(assuming you don't want to just save it for another playthrough).
Definitely a bit late for some of this... I already completed Chapter 2, but I'll consider it.
If I can find the spot again, I'll try to catch the blip she was stuck on, but it's been a few days now. Already back home in the game.-

I love so much about this, and it fits so much of what I've been looking for in a multiplayer server. With... A specific exception that people must form their territories during gameplay and not in a meta pre-game way (kills a lot of the customization and fun imo) and allowing solo runners is awesome! Playing a mercenary would be very fun for something like this. Or just a respectable hermit... That can cause havoc if messed with.
That, plus respect to the game's established lore... Is it really that hard to ask for a server that is based on the lore we have currently, and just let the people evolve onwards as their build their territories and have their characters learn about the lore as they venture through the story?
Though I would say that determining "winners" and "kingdoms" should come down to something less gamified and more interesting, such as resource control or literal annexation of communities. Possibly even technological progression or expansion efforts? Having crowns to grow nations feels a little silly, but milestones could supplement them well. -

Okay, wow, additional wrinkle. Here we go:
1. Tried sending friend my copy of the OpenAL32 file. Did not fix the issue.2. Decided to delete my copy of OpenAL32. After deleting my OpenAL32 file while he keeps his copy of my OpenAL32 installed, he can now join my game. I am flabbergasted.
3. Friend tries to turn up graphics settings. He gets disconnected the second he turns the view distance above 32 blocks.
4. Perform testing to replicate this. He can play on the server just fine if his view distance is 64 blocks or lower, but any efforts to increase the view distance further result in him being immediately disconnected from the server.
5. Check his RAM utilization. Vintage Story is using less than half of his available RAM.
Utterly stumped at this point.
That second point seems to be part of the issue. I presume you're hosting this on your machine?
Assuming that, it may be an issue of incompatibility. Different versions of OpenAL32, or yours could be damaged/corrupted which, being a DLL, could very easily explain this if it's the issue.
Not sure how you'd fix/replace that DLL personally, but it may be a starting point. It could also be dependent on operating system or graphical architecture (DirectX verison, other drivers, GPU hardware, etc.)
EDIT: Found a good starting point. Open command prompt, with Administrator privileges. Run the System File Checker with "sfc /scannow" on both computers.
SFC is a built-in recovery tool for DLLs and other critical Windows components, and it's quite reliable.
If that doesn't work, actually installing OpenAL or doing driver updates may be necessary. Or, a rollback on the driver version could be called for on your friend's machine.
There's a lot that may be going wrong here so it's hard to say, but trying these one step at a time and checking the progress should lead to success. -
Any time a relic (mainly wearables, like the Rosary) associated with Judeo-Christian religion appears in ruins, I always equip it on my character.
Considering what the Seraphs are, or perhaps I should say were, I imagine a symbol of the old faith would be heavily meaningful to them. I sometimes add a little story along with it as well, thinking of their response to finding a piece of their faith as it stood before the world's shifting.-

Hi all. Got done with Chapter 2 today, but... I'll admit, something weird happened in the Devastation.
Erel descended upon me without a healthbar popping up. I thought it was a pre-fight kind of thing to introduce her, but next thing you know, she got stuck on some blocks and I shot her until she finally flew away.
When I got to the top of the tower, she... wasn't there. Apparently that managed to one-cycle her without any warning, and honestly it was really disappointing (especially right after a very nasty second death to genuine BS when timeswitching near the final ladder)
Anyone else dealt with that, or did I just get a catastrophically bad first impression of Chapter 2's climax by sheer misfortune? -
Just dealt with the issue of trying to solve the problem with the [L] generating, and as it turns out, it's all related to one thing...
The Treasure Hunter
Generic treasure hunters won't cut it anymore; this fellow has a little shack he lives out of! It's honestly pretty cool, but... If you've finished Chapter 1 you'll need to regenerate an area of the world for the treasure hunter shack to spawn.
How to do it
/wgen story listmissing is all you need to do the steps necessary to fix up a little spot for your treasure hunter to spawn!
However.
This will not completely solve your issues. Once you delete the chunks, you may need to teleport out and then move to those chunks. Not sure why, but the game refused to let me move when I did the chunk deletion.
Once done, now you can go to the Lazaret. Cheers!
If you already went there and found nothing (like I did), just go through the Treasure Hunter's dialogue and click on the map he gives you. TP to it for your own sanity's sake.-

Judging from the map, it looks like it has spawned. I recommend checking out the nearby ravine.
Had to fix the missing treasure hunter, then re-did the spawn. I think it worked.
Now I just gotta figure this entrance out... -

Not even sure if I'm submitting this in the right place, but I had an idea after watching the trailer that's kept slipping my mind over and over. Finally putting it somewhere before I forget again.
I present to you...
Vintage Fable
Simple name that I felt like could properly translate the difference between the main game and the fantasy version, while maintaining the idea that they are on the same "base" in a way. Vintage Story is about a fictional but not fantasy tale of the medieval age taking a mechanical and temporal turn. Vintage Fable indicates the idea that it's a fantasy story instead of alternative history(?) with eldritch themes fictional tale. Yet, the name still indicates the identity of both are attached to each other, in (from what I understood) the fundamentals of the art-style and the fact they run on the same engine and are meant to exist side by side.
Hoping this'll be a little helpful-

Hey all! I've seen some footage from several videos now of good ol' Dave in the skies of the Rust World/temporal storms but I haven't been able to see him in my own playing of the game. Is there a specific setting I need to set at a certain value, or does he only appear with graphical presets chosen?

There's a rebalance patch for Combat Overhaul that someone made: https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/24963
The only real competitor mod that I recall seeing is Bloodshed: https://mods.vintagestory.at/bloodshed
Has its own weapons pack as well: https://mods.vintagestory.at/bloodshedweapons
Might have to check those out then. Bloodshed was on my radar once, and I've seen that rebalance... Though, what concerns me more is weapon range as weapons such as maces often demand you to be so close to enemies, namely in PVE, that... You can't really dodge and still score a hit, and CO makes facetanking even less viable. Which especially sucks, considering most mobs resist everything BUT bludgeons.

It is such a beautiful piece. I first heard it shortly after 1.20 came out, as it was late August in my world. not gonna lie, got a little emotional
It's a wonderful piece, and I can not wait to see what Lo-Phi releases next
First heard it in July, while working on my new(er) house made out of suevite. Was such a perfect little song to build to! Glad to see it's out now as well!

Might be a peculiar ask, but I'm wondering if anyone's intending to either make an alternative mod or a full rework of Combat Overhaul via an addon. It's got a really cool premise that I love, but it's definitely too janky and renders a lot of weapons rather useless unless they're polearms or longer swords. The base is grand, but it really needs some cleaning up. Not to mention, it's disappointing how the longer weapons get a ton of love with various additional attack angles and everything else gets... Nothing. I wish I could love it, but it's just not there at the present.
I just want to know what's out there or being planned, as I've had some ideas of my own, but no experience with C# or any modelling software. -
@Never JhonsenOh my goodness, that's the one! Guess the seasons work a bit differently in the game than I thought they did, but you found it! Thank you so much!

Hello everybody! There's been an elusive song in the game that I haven't been able to find in either the soundtrack or the game's .ogg files, and I really enjoy it. It seems to only play during Summer (July & August are the months I've heard it in, no others) and it starts with a lot of violin sounds (I think? pretty sure it's a violin and not a cello, but I may be wrong; it is definitely a string instrument in that group though). It seems to progress into a very different sounding part too that I can only really describe as being very "summery"
I really love it, and I've been wanting to listen to it more consistently for a little while now. Does anybody know the name of it? I'm thinking I just overlooked it.
i run a small community server called ashentide - i would love some feedback

Addendum for some advice/server critique in general.
Yeah, this is a very big problem when talking about markets. Because apparently, people can't be nice.
Not my story, but there was an incident I heard someone talk about where even the server admins were in on a brutal monopoly, keeping the tyranny running. One faction had beelined into the tropics and proceeded to procure Wildcraft cocoa trees for themselves and kill the rest. They never even sold it, just wanted to hoard it and make people know they had it. The faction declared that if they found anybody had cocoa in a meal, they would start a war.
Now, sure, odd claim to make, but the admins appeared to be in on it. How do we know?
Well, the guy telling this story managed to LEGITIMATELY steal some cocoa and bring it back. An admin found out and told him to dispose of it.
A monopoly enforced by the server staff. Slippery slope right there.
Also, just a side note, starting on servers after they begin can be quite a disaster. Found one civ server that sounded cool, but having nearly 0 access to food, no access to Butchering so my food gain is even lower, no bush foods, and then HoD killing me in both hydration and satiety.
Haven't wanted to play again, as I just cannot maintain myself and keep up with the server's progression after being tossed into the biggest faction.
