It made me wondering, is there any way I can dry them elsewhere instead of putting it in my inventory for several hours in game? Tried putting it in the chest but it never works.

Thanks both for the prompt replies!
I've spent a few hours in this area and haven't seen any malachite on the surface in the form of 'stones' (or in any of the cliff faces, I haven't ventured underground yet!). This is markedly different from my usual early game experience where copper 'stones' can be found easily. I guess my question should have been: are surface stones of malachite in limestone areas as common as those of copper in other areas?
It takes a bit of effort but you'll find one. (and by the long run you'll find more that copper becomes less needed)

Too complex. While I admit that the one in game requires some sort of effort, I find it to be far effective in long run (also I like to use those same roads as pathfinding so I don't have to charge into random directions when I had to go somewhere)

The best way is searching for deposits above ground. If you saw malachite in limestone, that means you are near to one. But the chances are depend in the settings.

Honestly I do hope that they'll add other forms of transport. But the main problem in most world seeds is too many hills.

Walled homesteads as the largest settlement you could find would make some sense compared to an open village like in Minecraft due to the better security it would provide against both wild animals and Drifter spawns at night. A simple wooden palisade or cobblestone wall surrounding one or two buildings, a well and a single crop field/workshop/open courtyard wouldn't take up that much space. The buildings could even incorporate the palisade as their external facing walls. These would be the upper end and rarest spawns, with anywhere between 4-6 villagers. Far more common would be single building cabins with an attached fenced garden that only have one to two villagers living in them.
That looks nice. I remember that I had to go "creative mode" just to make a merchant homestead several blocks away from my base.

Want to assist in adding stuff in the wiki. As I notice there are no info in certain items, like cassava or Amaranth for example
username is dandan550
EDIT: wanted to make a page in regards to cassava as there is no info about it in the wiki.
Mechanics of road creation

Yeah, honestly I do kinda like the "shovel and make a simple road" setup then later on improving it into a much complex road. After all, people use dirt paths until it gets improved into similar roads.
Surely if such update happen in the future, I hope it didn't rekt my previous progress where I made all of those roads
