Yes, it may be difficult, but it will be effective. Difficulty will be compensated by walking speed. TyronX noted in Roadmap that it would like to change the classic 3x3 craft grid to something more interesting. In my opinion, this is it

Moreover, this way of creating roads is much more interesting than just crafting

Yeah, honestly I do kinda like the "shovel and make a simple road" setup then later on improving it into a much complex road. After all, people use dirt paths until it gets improved into similar roads.

Surely if such update happen in the future, I hope it didn't rekt my previous progress where I made all of those roads

Thanks both for the prompt replies!

I've spent a few hours in this area and haven't seen any malachite on the surface in the form of 'stones' (or in any of the cliff faces, I haven't ventured underground yet!). This is markedly different from my usual early game experience where copper 'stones' can be found easily. I guess my question should have been: are surface stones of malachite in limestone areas as common as those of copper in other areas?

It takes a bit of effort but you'll find one. (and by the long run you'll find more that copper becomes less needed)

Walled homesteads as the largest settlement you could find would make some sense compared to an open village like in Minecraft due to the better security it would provide against both wild animals and Drifter spawns at night. A simple wooden palisade or cobblestone wall surrounding one or two buildings, a well and a single crop field/workshop/open courtyard wouldn't take up that much space. The buildings could even incorporate the palisade as their external facing walls. These would be the upper end and rarest spawns, with anywhere between 4-6 villagers. Far more common would be single building cabins with an attached fenced garden that only have one to two villagers living in them.

That looks nice. I remember that I had to go "creative mode" just to make a merchant homestead several blocks away from my base.

  4. Want to assist in adding stuff in the wiki. As I notice there are no info in certain items, like cassava or Amaranth for example

EDIT: wanted to make a page in regards to cassava as there is no info about it in the wiki.
