  1. Wow thanks for this information! I do prefer vanilla over mods. Although a combination of craftable Cartography and or antique atlas doesn't sound too bad. My brain is weird when it comes to mods, it almost feels like cheats to me but these don't sound too bad. hmm Edit**: I created a few test worlds and it seems knapped tools face West, at least for me.
  2. Just adding this as well, it popped up recently and looks neat CAN Antique Atlas: https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/32289
  3. Thanks for these great suggestions! I'll definitely give Craftable Cartography a try.
  4. Hey everyone, I recently posted some pics of my current world and I added an edit after updating to 1.21.2 I'll just copy/paste here for some background: Edit* - Updated to 1.21.2, I was in the woods seen behind my base, logged in, a bear spawned on me https://media.invisioncic.com/r268468/emoticons/sad.png (I'm guessing the update respawned some bears?) died and I guess the game didn't see? or didn't register my spawn point that I set with a gear. Sooooo respawned 5k blocks away, I am hurt https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/twitter/twemoji@14.0.2/assets/72x72/1f972.png I've never been able to find my way back spawning so far away without a map I always end up starting a new world My question is, are there any built in navigation mechanics built in to the game? I like the challenge of not having the map immediately available, I haven't progressed much in terms of tech, I am curious if there are craftable maps, how accurate is it to navigate with the rising and setting of the sun, and just some general tips and tricks for navigation without a map. I usually just do packed dirt towers. Also I remember looooong time ago in TOBG I think gravel or dirt had a little corner with an arrow that pointed north. So yea, just wondering if there is a mechanic or some tips I am missing to avoid deleting a world every time I die.
  5. As a kid I played NES games like LoZ and Mario, loved Pokemon Red and Blue, but what got me hooked, obsessed was LoZ Ocarina of Time. That game blew my mind, it was massive, 3D, and the music was beautiful.
  6. I was looking through everyone's builds, oh man so much talent! Decided to share my progress, I'm a fairly new player, this is the second time I've made it to the first winter. First time was in a normal world. I started a new world in wilderness survival, all default settings except chiseling. Progress has been SLOW. I'm scared to travel too far with no map, I'm using huge packed dirt towers to navigate(looks cool and ugly at the same time but it works), limited by resources in my immediate area but I have been enjoying the challenge. Anywho, after seeing all your amazing and beautiful builds, I decided I'd share my little unga bunga huts. Packed dirt floors and Rammed Earth walls. 7. Oh wow, I can't believe I never noticed this. I guess because I always cook my food one serving at a time as needed and now in winter I have nothing to do but stare at the fire . Thanks for the info!
  8. Hey everyone, this is only the second time I've made it to winter. I have a question regarding firepits, I'm cooking down some lime (first time) and after every 2 pieces cooks down the temperature in the firepit resets to cold and has to build up again to 825 to cook the next 2. Is this an expected cold or lime cooking mechanic? Is it bugged?
  9. Saw this cool looking moon on my way back home. Also, Wilderness Survival with no map is insane.

  10. Oh no! BTW brave for living in a forest. I tired messing with the clouds, what I noticed, at least for me was that when you first change cloud type, it gets rid of current clouds, instant performance boost, but after a while it would drop back down to 1/2 my normal FPS, I think what fixed it for me was lowering render distance slightly and going down a tick on the shadows. Still looks good though visually so I can't complain, just thought it was weird, I wonder if something was changed in the trees.
  11. Hey everyone, so I didn't get stutter per se when upgrading, but I did notice performance loss, dropped massive FPS ONLY in heavily forested areas. I didn't document my previous settings unfortunately but I did have to mess with my graphics settings after upgrading.
