No metal or anything was modified.. is that not one of the options in the world creation menu? I can't remember
-
I can promise the entire map was generated... most boring day of my life going over it all. But every square inch was done, so I have no idea why it would generate something there

This is amazing! Thank you for taking the time to make this coordinate system, it really helps to solve the city waypoints problem. Awesome!

All I can think of at this point would be to try re-downloading the zip files, there may have been some corruption there, I'm unable to replicate the problem
-
Yikes! Sorry to hear that. I'll see if I can replicate it my end.. could be due to updates, or could just be a download issue.
-
Of course! I'd love to see that

I'm so glad that the map has brought you some joy and entertainment, that was my goal! I'm still working on better updates and stuff, so hopefully Earth 2.0 will bring you an even better experience

Happy New Year everyone! I'm uploading a couple of updated pictures of the Japan map - It is coming along well. I'm slowly adding buildings and what not across the map for it to be more exciting when I finally upload it. The seasonal changes are far more accurately reflected now - Winter extends all the way to mid-Kyushu. Here is how it looks today: As you can see, the entire map is now densely forested (even many parts that look like there aren't any trees - They are there, they simply blend in with the colour of the grass). The only part that isn't forested is the Kanto plain. Here are some more miscellaneous screenshots. These are from the "Safe houses" I've constructed. They are scattered throughout the map here and there for a place to stay over night, provided you can find one. And a few more improvements of the landscape in general: Mount Fuji: A waterfall boardwalk in the Toyama Prefecture: I'm hoping the map will be available within a few more weeks!

Hello! Thanks for the interest and your questions. I'll do my best to answer them how I can. I'm very new to Vintage Story myself, so I'm unsure how the game files and mechanics work exactly. The map is a world save file, so it should *theoretically* come with all the information required, but it seems that there is indeed some missing data, like waypoints. I'm still trying to understand this and work out how to get this to work, but can't yet understand which files contain waypoint data explicitly. The map uploaded is basically as you identified, just the part that is uncovered which is 30K x 60K. The reason why it says 1 million x 1 million odd blocks is because of the worldpainter mod limitations. If you select any other dimensions than the standard 1 million by 1 million, the world will fail to render. The map took 10 odd in-game years to build because I hand painted every mountain and landscape individually, along with about half of the trees. This was not an easy or quick task. I usually use grayscale heightmaps but it was simply too much data and QGIS slowed to an unusable crawl when I tried to render this. It won't be possible to make the world map with edges just yet, due to the mod limitations I mentioned before. Have a festive holiday season, and Merry Christmas - Jason

Thanks so much! Already working on a few improvements

Thank you!

Ahh I see. The rivers and oceans will require an entire re-work, but I've started some tests already tonight to make the rivers and oceans with proper topography. It should be okay but I'll have to paint all the trees etc. again so it might be a while before a new map is ready. This coming week is busy with Christmas etc

It's very difficult to make gradual changes when the map is a comparatively small representation of the Earth. Every mountain and every hill was hand painted, and so there will always be some sacrifice somewhere... If it was possible to make the map larger (which it isn't, due to the worldpainter mod limits) it would be much easier to make the landscape more spread out. But I did the best with what I could. Rivers and oceans can be easily fixed though, as well as removing "border walls", if they're not wanted. Actually, I wanted to make border marks on the ground, but again it is a limitation of the worldpainter mod, as individual block types cannot be placed. The game simply renders every block as grass, so the only way to represent nations was to build upwards.

Yes I've heard that the rivers and seas are deep for others.. how many blocks is the difference between the sea level and the land for you? I may have to start working on some fixes... we can think of this as Earth 1.0

Thanks, so glad you like it
