Well I found a fix for me, but it doesnt help you sadly. I'm playing modded and disabling grass placement in the More Piles config fixed my problem. e: Actually no, I made a mistake. Only disabling More Piles helped.

I am having the same problem with Firebricks. Targeting the side doesnt help. Although I couldnt make charcoal until I did the targeting the side trick.
