I will be perfectly honest and say that this is for the most part a very self indulgent suggestion, but I do think it could be very cool. Historically, humans have made small portable lamps from boring a hole in a small stone, filling it with animal fat, and igniting it with a moss/grass wick. I think it's a very whimsical alternative to something like a torch. They are also reusable, which is atypical for simple light sources in life. Mostly, I just think they are quaint and nice.
