I personally dont have mistrust in vanilla game safety, for me this is not about that. Its about cutting potential malice at root and with that shoving that no misconduct, be it with supposed good intentions or not, will be tolerated. The issue, from my subjective perspective, is that a person who has put himself of a pedestal, somehow thinks that he is above others and can call the shots on if and how what should be punished, with no regards to what it levels in its wake either. It is a personal ego driven initiative, because he personally felt like he did not like something. No "for the greater good" excuse is valid for self proclaimed holy war no matter the methods used or consequences. This case in itself isnt big. The issue is not the scale it effected, the issue is the message the handling sends. And the message should be this: We do not accept any illegal or borderline illegal actions, no matter the scale and no matter if the perpetrator is known or popular or has done great good before or is on the dev team or if hes the president of the universe itself. Because currently Anego is sending the message that if the person is one of them or useful or has done some good before, their character and breaches of trust and whatever else can all be excused oh and they are trusting his story 100%. Its like when a certain president doesnt go to jail for liking little kids.

Anegos reaction has nothing to do with the scope. The actions of their employee/contractor were illegal. Said person has shown he can and will do illegal things driven by own ego. Said person does not deny or regret doing it, in fact, has shown that they will do it again if they feel like it. Such a person should not be in a position where they have access to code of the product. Such a person should not have any trust of the company after this. End of story.

Honestly, I dont think Maltiez will stay on the team. Considering his character, he will most likely leave on his own. I dont know this, someone said he left his previous job for this, so he probably needs to scout a different place before leaving. He is a self proclaimed saint who is now scorned. No way will he stay and be humble.

Good point. We are discussing a lot about was it right, was ir wrong, what it did to games etc., but there is this part too. Losses. Some will quit, some might try to reimburse game, some potential players might stumble upon this and decide not to buy the game, thats one part of the losses. The other part is as Paruza said, team is going to use up time that would have otherwise be spent developing the game. Peoples time is the most expensive position in any business. And it will cost time and nerves to a lot of others outside VS dev team. All the modders that rely in any way on Maltiezs mods now will have to consider changes, as I will bet that a lot of the players will now steer clear of anything using Maltiezs stuff as we cant know what else he has added, if he felt like it.

The official post says he is on the team (whatever that means, could be employee, could be contractor) and is advising on the combat.

What he did is also against laws in Latvia concerning cybersecurity and could be reported to Cert, the cybersecurity bureau. Its not a good idea to do so as it will most likely harm Anego more, so im putting my trust that they will deal with the situation themselves.

That would have been the morally correct solution, but Maltiezs actions draw a picture. Add undisclosed code to his mod, which is intentionally hidden. - He CLAIMS it was done to only target specific cheat mods, this isnt proven. The code is integrated in a popular mod, he knows this, people often auto update mods via VS installer, he knows this, no one reads each updated mods code or searches for issues. He knows this. - He knowingly and intentionally added code that becomes auto applied to wherever the original mod was installed, without the users consent or knowledge or any indication of what the updated mod does. He INTENTIONALLY hid it. He made it so crash logs dont show what was the cause. - Tracks are being hidden. Look, if there is a paid mod out there that can be used to destroy other peoples plays, make it known, give people a mod that specifically targets this. End of story. Hiding code, not disclosing it, hiding its tracks, thats not good deeds, thats I do what I want and everyone who objects to what I do is an idiot (yes, there are screenshots of M calling people idiots for just not agreeing to his methods). He started claiming it was against one bad actor, it was for the good of the servers etc., only now when this has been discovered and blown up in his face. Its claims. None proven. This doesnt mean people need to quit the game. What he is working on for Anego will certainly now be quadruple checked. What they decide to do with him is up to Tyron, but I wish they did not downplay what he actually did and make excuses that it was for good. Tell it as it is. He added stuff to his mods, without informing people what the changed mod did, and he hid tracks of what it did. We know for a fact Maltiez is an agressive and rude person (see his replies to regular, normal, non rude questions under his mods about compatibility for example). His intent might not have been malicious, or it might have been ego driven malicious. It might be aimed at one bad mod, it might be aimed at mods of people he just doesnt like for whatever reason. We do not know. We do know that if he was not involved with Anego now, anyone elses actions like this with the mods they release/update would have been claimed to be malicious and breaking TOS. He is not in the right even if the claims of greater good are true. And there seems to be a lot of lies from his part on the issue which keep contradicting. He says it didnt effect servers, but then claims it was for the good of the servers. He says it was only effecting multiplayer connection games, but then whats the point, if the goal is to hunt down bad people who destroy others playing. Multiplayer together is used by friends, not random people on the internet. So either the hunting down malicious mod claim is false, or it only effecting multiplayer and not servers games is false.

And I was just doing some testing to see what size greenhouses work and what the rules are, and carrots were growing even though they literally had a dirt block directly above them (greenhouse needs only 50% glass roof to work).

Can the hot springs be used for anything? If I build a max 7x7 house on it and have at least one block be open above the spring, will it heat the home?
