I'm trying to put together Leather Armor to progress my story, but I cannot seem to make tannin. I have 50 liters of water in a barrel, and 5 pine logs in there with it like it says to do in the guide in game, but its not doing anything. Anyone know what im doing wrong?

Im brand new to the game, and Started in .21. In the new build, im trying to make more pelts with fat and Hide, but the old recipe is not working. anyone know what im doing wrong?
