I can't really explain it, but this game gives you a sense wonder that can't be matched. Anything feels possible, and you'll be surprised by how in-depth just about every feature feels.

I can wholeheartedly recommend this game to you, and at 18.00 EUR it honestly feels like a crime to pay so little and get so much in return.

This is literally the game I have been looking for. It's amazing thanks for the incredible and fully immersive world. I've already bought the game for myself and a couple of other people with a game server. It was so easy to set up. Now I'm going to need to use my vacation days because I just can't stop playing! Amazing 11/10 would recommend.

Lovely Game, Great community.

It's just insane how much stuff you are able to do in this game already, and game developers are active with the community most of the time via forum and discord.

Game that doesn't need many mobs with incredible ai to be challenging. Just a wildlife and nature trying to knock you down (which does many times) are the real challenge here - AND I LOVE IT!
I'm not going to talk about the mechanics of survival etc. You should check it out yourself - there is too much to talk about anyway. Current state of the game (after not that much time in-development compared to the other survival-like games) is beyond acceptable to have fun with.

I searched for a immersive and hardcore survival experience. And this is perfect in every shape or form. Highly recommended.

Only thing I would like to see in the game are maybe rivers. Then nature would feel even more complete than it already is.

Always wanted a survival game like this that was challenging, loving it so far still early access and extremely playable, has a lot of content , runs really good performance wise and I love the ambient sounds,  looking forward to the future of this game!

Really Amazing Game ❤️

Well, when I first watched the trailer I really thought this is to good to be true.

But after a few days I decided to give it a try - and it was worth it.

However, this game is still in early access, so don't expect a fully complete project.

Just like most of the players, I also came from Minecraft to get something similar, but more challenging. If you know Minecraft, most of the controls are very intuitive. But you should expect to die quite often in the beginning, since you need to watch out for hostile mobs - day and night. You also need to be aware of your hunger.

The beginning:
Just like in the old school times of minecraft, you start to build a dirt bunker. Since you can not effort to build a pickaxe in the first days, a cobble bunker will be a product for the future. But after a couple of days you will be able to get copper, which you can smelt into a pickaxe. It is a process way more komplex than in Minecraft, so getting to this point is a much more slower process than you might know.

Having a pickaxe opens actually a whole new world. You can mine resources much more efficient and in way bigger amounts. While doing so don't forget to eat.
You can do farming. You need to find vegetables or crops. The fertillity of the soil influences the growing time. But it will take a couple of days anyways, untill you can harvest you first onions - or whatever you have planted. Later in the game, you can automate farming and tool making - but thats definitely a long way ahead, when you start a new world.

The world:
The world is beautiful. There are no biomes like in minecraft. The landscape is actually influenced by the weather and temperature. You actually can divide the world into 3 major climate zones:
1. boreal
2. hot
3 arctic

Each of these climate zones also has different regions, which can vary drastically. You can have big mountains and flat steppes. The world is quite big, so it will take you a really long time to enter another climate zone (I am not exactly sure how many blocks, but at least a couple 10k from my experience). Although the landscape is quite impressive, it gets a little repetetive after a time.

Potential:
What I would love to see are big multiplayer server, in which resources actually have a value. You can have certain stones or woods only have from certain areas. Since the world is so big, it just doesen't make sense in single player to travel that far, only for getting a certain stone. Multiplayer could benefit from those distances. One big plus is the creation of custom blocks with a chisel. You can combine up to four different blocks into one custom block. You can make a statue, your indivudual furniture or a really impressive house facade. But having those things in singleplayer gets quite boring after a time, since you can not show or share it.
Making custom blocks as a profession in multiplayer server and trading resources, could lead into to a interesting simulation.

Conclusion:
I am really looking forward in which direction the game develops. It is a game which can offer so much depth. In the current state, the game is in a good position to become something great. Sometimes the game feels a little empty, because of it's repetitive landspace and the relatively few mobs. But the road map offers everybody a good overview what will be implemented hopefully soon.

Amazing game! Love how it plays and the focus on survival rather than the sandbox part.

I love both this and Minecraft but for different reasons and love to play both

Highly recommend it if you like a more survival focused game

Definitely worth the full price at any time

Included some screenshots from my favourite worlds :3

I've played a good 40 hours now and have been enjoying myself the whole time. I tend to take things more slowly than others and do things bit by bit, learning on my own when I can. I'm having a lot of fun and managed to get family involved, too.

It is one of my favorites in recent years and I'm glad that I discovered it when I did. I can easily see myself playing this for years to come and recommending it to friends that want to try something different.

I personally enjoy the game quite a lot. The main issues I had with the game (Prospecting, and the lack of variation with swords) were easily fixed with mods. Is it a perfect game? What game is. Is it worth the money? 100%. If you get some friends it's super fun, and the easy to mod nature of the game is a MAJOR win for me personally. I think the in-game wiki (Acts like JEI from minecraft if you've ever used it) makes the game 100x better, so many things would be so much worse if not for this, being able to have a fairly clear road map of what you need to do is AWESOME. I'd highly recommend the game, and based on the road map and interesting story so far, I feel like this could truly become a classic. All around great game

Amazing game with a talented set of developers behind it! The developers keep adding new things and improving the game monthly, and the players always know what to expect due to their numerous dev logs and even a roadmap. The game itself is very detailed and realistic, and with the addition of mods, highly customizable. Too busy playing to write a longer review. 100/10 Game, worth every cent!

Been playing off and on for about 3 years. Put the game down since I had done everything, but then 1.20 came out and I'm once again sucked into the game. Truly an amazing game that I feel most people could sink hundred of hours into once you get used to the basic mechanics. The difficulty is basically entirely up to you and you can fine tune it to your leisure if you want a harder/easier experience. I've recommended the game to several friends and spent many nights after work playing. Looking forward to the new story content!

[ENG] I discovered the game by chance through social media. I was really drawn to the atmosphere and the feeling of a "real" survival game, and it was an instant purchase. After trying to jump in blind, a rather rough first few hours, and having created at least four different worlds, I'm now crafting bronze in my small mud brick house while every living being and mechanical creature I encounter tries to eat me alive. I've already spent about 20 hours in this world and I'm LOVING it. Despite the fact that during the first few hours I even considered making a refund because of how difficult the game was, it's worth learning because Vintage Story gives you a feeling no other game has ever managed to give me. I've tried every Minecraft mod pack imaginable, and I have almost every survival game you can think of in my library, and none of them hook me like this one, it's truly unique. I hope the developers continue with their vision and keep polishing what, for me, is already one of the best survival games I've ever played.

Incredibly unique survival experience that builds on the foundation of Minecraft but introduces a deeper, more challenging take on survival mechanics. I also see this game being better in term of detail oriented creative builds.

Deep Progression System: Vintage Story makes progression feel rewarding. While ores and materials are readily available, you must first work with lower-quality materials before 'unlocking' higher-tier tools and resources. This gradual advancement adds depth and satisfaction.

Challenging Survival Mechanics: From managing hunger to surviving wildlife encounters, every aspect of survival feels meaningful. Even seemingly harmless animals like goats can be deadly early on. Mining is made more engaging with cave-ins, adding an element of risk and realism.

Atmospheric and Slow-Paced Gameplay: The game forces you to slow down and think strategically rather than rushing through tasks. This pacing enhances the immersion and makes each decision feel impactful.

Spooky, Grungy Aesthetic: The game leans into a darker, eerie atmosphere with mechanics like temporal storms. While some players may enjoy this, I personally found it less appealing and opted to disable it.

Natural World Generation:  The world feels more organic compared to the rigid biome structure of Minecraft. Environments transition smoothly, creating a more natural and immersive experience as you explore.

Looking ahead, I’d love to see more survival and building mechanics, like an expanded windmill system or something akin to redstone for automation, or maybe even steam generation mechanics. It’s great to see an active dev team continuously improving the game.

After a long time, I’ve finally found a game that excites me -- one that makes me want to explore, experiment, and push forward. Excited to see this game bloom.

Hot Take: the name Vintage Story doesn’t quite fit.

This game is AMAZING! I love the survival mechanics and enemies, it's like discovering minecraft for the first time but even better than before! Im not the biggest fan of the lore but you can play without giving too much attention to it :)
