Dealman Posted March 20, 2025 Report Posted March 20, 2025 (edited) Me and my gf just picked this up and whilst we very much enjoy the progression and exploration, the combat is without a doubt the absolute weakest part of the game. I was honestly shocked at how poor it is. Wolves, for example, easily outrun you and can barely be hit with all the grass around since the game goes "Hurrdurr you try use spear on grass silly", so you don't even attack half the time. For being an early game enemy, the wolves are hilariously poorly balanced, they kill you very rapidly in 3 hits on standard if you're at full health. They take a lot of effort to kill and will just run away when low. Mad respect for what the game is though and will definitely be playing more, but the combat is in dire need of an overhaul. It's genuinely terrible. Edit: Now that we have some more experience and made more progress, they're not as bad. We still firmly believe their early game balance is completely out of whack. The only way to somewhat reliably deal with them is either to trap them in pits or carry a ton of spears. Their movement is erratic, their hitboxes seem iffy at best and they're a pain to try and hit with all the grass around (seriously, why does foliage make melee useless?) and deal a lot of damage. Hell, even with lamellar armor they can be a decent threat solely because the sheer attack speed is insane. I fear wolves far, far more than I do bears. Edited March 25, 2025 by Dealman 1 1

But, the hitboxes can be the most janked thing ever.
