Parmind Posted April 18, 2023 Report Posted April 18, 2023 (edited) Spent some time genning some terrain and thought I'd share it. (%landcover% / %landcoverscale% - Map dimensions): If anyone has some more maps or interesting settings post them here. 0/400-20x20k Spoiler 10/400-10x10k Spoiler 30/150-10x10k Spoiler Edited April 18, 2023 by Parmind add spoilers 1
Parmind Posted April 18, 2023 Author Report Posted April 18, 2023 I really like the 0/400, just wish it wasn't so noisey. Spoiler 1
Rufkut Posted April 20, 2023 Report Posted April 20, 2023 (edited) I think the old system in rc.2 produced better, more consistent results. That's where you'd select: - No oceans - Very large lakes - Continental - Island Worlds 30/150 looks promising but I've yet to find anything viable for a playthrough. Its either a unending landmass with jagged noisy island or thousands of tiny lakes. I'm not sure if that's a bug or intended. I found a nice world in rc2 but the the new chunks are generate as a continuous continent... Edited April 20, 2023 by Rufkut 1
Gerfzander Posted April 20, 2023 Report Posted April 20, 2023 (edited) I'm very confused by this new system. I think I also would have preferred just choosing from those 4 options as Rufkut mentioned. Right now I tried making a few worlds with 0% Land Cover and 400% Land Cover scale and it doesn't even seem to generate any oceans at all? It looks like a normal map with tiny lakes and mostly land still. Edited April 20, 2023 by Gerfzander 3
rhetorical Posted April 20, 2023 Report Posted April 20, 2023 It appears on multiplayer servers the WorldConfig object in the serverconfig.json file entirely ignores these settings too...

Kishmond Posted May 19, 2023 Report Posted May 19, 2023 I've generated some maps for comparison and thought I might as well post them here. Version 1.18.5, 100kmx100km world. Worldgen mods are Better Ruins and Th3Dungeons. The file name format is landcover-landcoverscale-upheavalrate-landformscale. 30-150-0-1 Spoiler 30-300-30-50 Spoiler 50-125-10-1 Spoiler 50-300-30-1 Spoiler 70-100-30-1 Spoiler
jbutt Posted June 2, 2023 Report Posted June 2, 2023 Hi, I have a server already running with folks playing on it. We want oceans and boats. Is it too late to change our world gen to allow oceans to form? We're fine with some terrain jank between the old and new, just want to know how to do it.
Gotssdam Posted January 3 Report Posted January 3 Did you ever figure this out? I got a server with a map most of the players like. I don't think oceans can be generated after initial world gen. At least I haven't found that option. I plan on just using World Edit tools to turn a section of the map into an ocean and possibly build a single river to divide the single land mass.
