how about a couple of little animals.
ermine, peacock, beavers, squirrels
1. The ermine can be the first tamed pet, in addition, it is very curious and can follow you to your base.
2. peacock is another source of meat and new feathers to decorate your character or home and just a beautiful bird to add to your livestock collection
3. beaver builder of forests, dams as new places like ruins
4. squirrels a new block of wood like with a bee hive, from this block you can get a lot of nuts and tree seeds, possible theft of your seeds?

Birds, you can find nests and make use of arrows to hunt birds and collect eggs.

There could be potential to hunt a falcon nest to collect eggs and breed and raise your own falcon.

I’m not sure if this counts as an animal idea but….

Incubating stolen wild bird eggs (separate from chickens) would be cool but I have no idea how that would be implemented. Perhaps throw down grass (like when making a campfire) and place an eggz also in a temp controlled environment. That could add more purpose to the greenhouse function.

I would love to be able to climb trees and collect bird eggs as another food source.
