Hello everyone,

A couple of years ago I created a huge map for Minecraft with a tool called World painter.

This map used to be about 50,000 blocks wide and 25,000 block tall. I created all major rivers, lakes, mountains, biomes, vegetation etc. after putting years of work in it. At some point however, I stopped working on it because there are so many limitations in MC and I also lost interest in playing the game at all.

Since I started playing VS some years ago, I also got the idea of starting a similar project. There is a huge potential in the game, considering the fact that there is for example a real season and weather integration, different biomes, a modding interface and so on.

So I would like to ask if there are any plans in future to implement any kind of tool, that allows to edit a world map “from high above”, not like the very basic editor that is available right now. It would be for example extremely helpful to import height maps (and also temperature/rainfall maps etc.), to create lakes and rivers, vegetation and so on.

Maybe there are already some ways to do it, that I am not aware of?

I also attached some screenshots from the old project (without vegetation at that point).

Best regards

Interesting. Have you considered asking the creator of World Painter to make an exporter to VS? I know he did for Wurm Unlimited, maybe he'll be willing to make one for VS?

I know this is rezing a zombie post, but I would love to see this, too! I created a massive world map approximately that size as well... converting an old Commodore-64 game map into a Minecraft map by first translating the original map into heights, then painting in the biomes to make it match. I would LOVE the ability to take that project into VS!
