I noticed picking Orange+Pickaxe autofills the waypoint name with "Copper". I think it'd be super cool if we had a lot more of these defaults.

For example, Amber (yellowish-orange) + pine tree = resin.

Also, does anyone know if these special names are listed anywhere? Typing out waypoint names is such a chore I'll take any shortcut I can (Outside of mods, totes grabbing an automap mod next playthrough tho).

Some of those are definitely worth assigning a macro to, rather than standing still in possibly hostile territory and futzing with the map.

Say you want to mark all the quartz you find. Go into the macro editor (Ctrl-M) and add a macro whose command is,

/waypoint addati pick ~ ~ ~ false white Quartz

Assign it to hotkey (say) Ctrl-Alt-Q. When you hit that hotkey, it places that marker where you are standing.

Ruins, caverns, traders, translocators, unopened storage vessels, coal, clay, peat, resin, your own caches, bees, maybe even crops or mushrooms or berries may also be good choices, depending on the stage of game you are in.

[EDIT]

In answer to your question, I don't know what they are, though, sadly, orange rocks are also copper. When I play with map, I don't stand still long enough to use that interface.

FWIW, you can mess with the map on singleplayer by opening the survival guide and setting it to pause the game. This is what I do while exploring because I want to give thought to the information I put in my map tags.

With that said, I didn't know how set up macros, so now I will try that out.
