I created a public unmodded 60 slot server. I generated it with 70% land coverage to insure it has Ocean for the boats. Map is 4 x 4 million blocks in size with 320 height. It also has a slightly slower food consumption with longer (400%) tool duration. Drop items on death should last for an hour. Intent is to be a survival No Wipe server. Server restarts at 4:45 AM Pacific Time. This is a long term server running on my own hardware on the Tacoma Lightcurve network (formerly Rainier Connect)

was logging in for a bit... with the added build height, noticed sea level was now at 138.  since it was winter (end of feb), made a raft and headed south for the warmer weather.  20k south and its still snowing with temps below freezing!  I'm wondering if thats because of the elevated sealevel?  (a loss of 1 degree for every 10 blocks above the default sealevel of 110).  Also noticed I could hold my breath longer underwater?

Why are the winters so cold on this server? I also tried to go south and never made it out of the frozen zone. Someone said the world was created to have over 2 million blocks between the temperate zone and the arid zone. That seems a bit extreme.

They were wrong, it's 4 x 4 million blocks wide.  Polar zones are 200K.   Just be mindful it may have been in the winter season on there when you posted. As of this posting 14 hours later it's early spring.

Yes I have breath set for 60 minutes in the event that the next few updates add a bunch of undersea stuff to explore.
